Hmmmmm is it too late to launch an 'away' jersey with a picture of SK on it (given his historic links to Dalymount blah, blah, blah) ? bet we could get great sales around Dundalk (and apparently Inchicore and Derry)

This is fooking hilarious. Like Arsenal and Man United joining forces to suggest England take on Pep Guardiola. No vested interest here, no sirree.
God bless Derry, always having our back.
Right fukkit, time for Dundalk to go cherry-picking Pats and Derry, the cheeky sods.

Shams bound to issue a statement shortly.
The board of wexford just proved they are stupid as the boards of pats and derry
Come on Rovers do the right thing and publicly endorse the man you prematurely sacked for the biggest job in the country
Ah lads this is embarrassing stuff.
Funny how u boys always obsess about him getting sacked at rovers, what about dunfirmiline ? Or Derry with the double contracts or anywhere else he left.
I doubt dunfirmiline are worried about him, dundalk was right for him and good luck to him, didn't work out elsewhere, it happens, and it'll happen again
Looks like Mick, on the kenny thing yes he did not succeed at Rovers with that disappointment being compounded 100 fold through his subsequent success at Dundalk but on a purely footbaling choice i would love to see him being given a chance managing our international side Mick is same old same old, safe pair of hands and all that where is the imagination and outside the box thinking Mr Delaney.
Kenny would have played football and at least if we didn't qualify we would be able to enjoy watching the games. When Ireland were playing Denmark last week I ended up watching highlights of the all blacks game on a different channel because I couldn't be bothered watching the muck being served up by o neil.
He also would have played maybe Dylan watts in midfield instead of Cyrus Christie FFS. Or McGrath or mceneff or Benson......How could that not be an improvement........opportunity missed and he wouldn't have cost 1.2 million
So looks like Kenny is taking the ireland u-21s job. Can't see dundalk collapsing like Rovers did when MON left no matter who takes over with the rich owners etc and most if not all of the current squad signed up for next year?
I just hope Stephen Kenny remembers to thank us for getting him this gig.
As a bohs fan I'm worried, Long wants try managing fulltime and if offered he would go I'm sure without a doubt
dont forget nearly 20 years ago when stephen managed us he was irish under 20 manager or something like that. brian kerr was manager with st pats ath and then went to irish underage team. I like to think if Stephen takes it he will make a huge difference to the irish underage structure.
Have to say I’m gutted. If he’d left for the main gig then fair enough, but the u21s? What if he’s a disaster with them, does he still get the main job. If he’d stayed with Dundalk and continued his success he’d have been a shoe in next time anyway.
This is all very strange.
If McCarthy does really well, we send him packing.
If Kenny has a nightmare with the U21s, we give him the senior job.
I don't get why this decision has been made.
However, from a purely Derry City point of view, happy days!
It's not that strange really, if anything it's the first bit of forward thinking the FAI have shown in an age.
The only slight potential for confusion is if McCarthy completely overachieves, but I think that's a relatively safe bet.
The point is that this is (reported as being as, anyway) with a VIEW to taking over the senior team, ie this affords both Kenny a good opportunity to acclimitise to an international set-up before jumping straight into the big one, and also the suits an opportunity to weigh up his performance at a lower level.
It's not as if it's set in stone that Kenny gets it regardless of whether he completely bombs or not.
It's been proven over the years that planning ahead in international football tends to bear fruit. I don't trust the FAI to actually pull anything off and the McCarthy appointment in isolation couldn't be duller, but credit where it's due I think this is actually a smart move all round.
And it'll probably even things up a bit in the LOI and all. Grand job.
Seems there is a Santa Claus after all
Its a PR stunt by the FAI.
The reaction to McCarthy being appointed shocked them and this is their response.
I can understand Kenny being tempted by the opportunity. I hope, for his sake, that they don't screw him.
Ding dong the witch is dead.
Rovers should issue a statement backing Keith long for the dundalk job :)
Double post
Bradser spotted in Dundalk this evening - he looked lost
I wonder if bradser did get the DFC job would it be possible for EZ to post more often about him :)
