It certainly took a league title to remind the Dundalk public that Dundalk FC were worth following at home ;)

Just on the first half yesterday - and I'm not quibbling about Dundalk having the best of it - but it's worth bearing in mind that City were facing into a driving blizzard, Dundalk had it to their backs. A yellow or orange ball might have helped! Further, some of the players had the whole Miller situation in their heads.
On the evidence from the season's opener, the four league meetings between the two are going to be fairly tasty.
Cork seem keen not to be seen as a one man band this season judging by the outcome. Hard to read too much into the result as it's not taken that seriously, but you'd imagine a few words will be said in training this week amongst the Dundalk staff and players about how the match played out.
Judging by the number of sickness and injury reports coming out of Dundalk they must be happy they have Bray first up.
What? No way! This is the first we've heard of it...
Seriously though, Dundallk fans are probably even more ****ed off than away fans with the state of Oriel at this stage. Sunday really showed it up for the state that it is, two options to get to the shed 1) walk through a big puddle and get wet feet or 2) up the mucky hill to avoid it!
All you renters should count your blessings
How come after 5 years of owning dfc are paul and Andy given a free pass over the puddle and lack of minimal improvements in oriel especially away section and peak6 are here a month and people are clamouring them for major upgrades and fixing said puddle.
Martin Connolly said at the US :usa: lads q&a last Sunday week that that puddle would be fixed before the season starts so i guess we'll give him(and the new lads) the few days to get that sorted.
Seen this pic from Oriel park from yesterday just a few mins ago.Coldest ever i remember at any ground ...apart from Bray :D

Reminded me of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d48a6MDmCBM 1.30mins in after the orange ball burst. I wouldnt be surprised if there wasnt an orange ball available on Sunday. The photo above makes the away section look packed!
I know outspoken touched on this earlier, but Rogers was awful for the first goal - and I think he should be claiming the cross for the second too. Six-yard box is the keeper's territory; a cross like that shouldn't be allowed find its way the whole way across it.
And those of you with control of your leases & the funds to do so should improve your facilities.
Up to now the excuse was Dundalk didn't have control of the lease. That was sorted but still nothing was done.
At least you could have removed the dead rodents.
Its obvious that peak6 have no interest in doing anything with Oriel so for the foreseeable future it will remain a dump.
Incidentally credit to Dundalk for putting up the goals from the Presidents Cup.
Did Dundalk have to get written permission from the FAI to allow you to do that ?
I don't know if the FAI ever considered live streaming the match? but as someone mentioned above(internet not strong enough i believe was the quote)there is no wi -fi on the shedside of the ground where the camera gantry is positioned.
Theres a couple of pictures from the away end showing the difference in conditions between the first and second half. Mental. Interesting that the camera men couldn't follow the ball for one of the Dundalk goals. I think you can see in the picture above how hard it was to see the action. I honestly didn't know what was going on for about 10 minutes. We didn't know who scored the first, or why Adorjan was "celebrating" with his shirt off or why he wasn't booked. We later found out he was adding some layers but it was very confusing from the far end of the ground.
You make it sound so easy!
What level of improvements are you talking? Fixing a puddle, broken seating, rodent crematorium are all small types of improvements I would agree with and should have been done long before our Europa run and lease handover.
Anything bigger that requires structural changes take time regardless of how much money we have (our Europa windfall wouldn't come close anyway). We have the lease a wet day in those terms, but yes it does look like there will be no major structural upgrades in the short term which is disappointing but predictable really.
I wasn't having a dig at clubs that rent, I actually think it is the only workable solution for the league to improve facilities. Ownership costs would likely cripple a club, for example how much is the new roof for the Derrynane? Or is it covered by insurance?
Peak 6 said they would drain the puddle if they got control of Oriel, but things seem to getting worse.
Anything would be an improvement on what's there now. There's not much excuse for not using a power washer or a sweeping brush in fairness or even a few buckets of tarmac.
It’s never easy as we know ourselves.
For years now we've been on to the MFA to improve facilities, toilets, wheelchairs stands etc. for fans at Turners Cross.
Its only now it’s being done eventually.
We've been on to them to improve the public address system for years as well. We even offered to buy them a new system but were told no.
The MFA don't want anything permanent belonging to us there even though we've been tenants for 30 years.
Nowadays we hire extra public address equipment for big games.
It’s like dealing with a government department
The roof at Turners Cross would be an insurance claim I would say.
The other work like new toilets etc. for away fans would come from a grant which the MFA have been sitting on for a few years now.
There was some dispute on who exactly owned the sewer which the new toilet block was to feed into but that was eventually sorted.
I believe the only way forward for clubs is to play in community type stadiums. A lot of clubs in Europe do it that way.
They have their own training complexes & play the games in the community stadium.
Bit cold to be called a crematorium to be fair...The boor mouse that died was probably dreaming of being in one
All these necessary renovations are sure to make a (ro) dent in Peak 6's coffers ... I'll get my coat.
