http://www.fai.ie/ireland/news/u19-s...-double-header. Squad for friendlies. Lots and lots of lads you would expect to be involved not included so seems experimental. Dunne from falkirk is new think he played for Scotland previously. The Rangers lad is in. Didn't realise mckenna was on loan at bray for season. Just so we can freak out rice and obafemi are not included(im sure it has nothing to do with them been involved with their first team squads at their clubs it's because they are leaving us the *******s!)
Dunne has played first team for Falkirk in Scottish Championship. Very interesting acquisition. As is Shiels, of course.

Forwards: Aidan Keena (Queens Park - on loan from Hearts), Matthew Shiels (Rangers), Luke Heeney (St Patrick's Athletic), Aaron Dobbs (Wexford)
I foresee this ending amicably.
His Twitter is informative on this: https://twitter.com/matthewshiels1?s=17
He says "Happy to be in the squad" regarding our call-up, laughing emojis at Scotland's and then retweets a link to an article about a tug of war. This lad is a boyo!
Cieran Dunne also tweeted his delighted: https://twitter.com/cierandunne/stat...6%7Ctwterm%5E1
He gets a hearty congratulations from Declan Glass below the tweet, a 17 year old who recently made his debut for Dundee United and has priors for tweeting a tri colour: https://twitter.com/declanglass10/st...6%7Ctwterm%5E1
mccauley scored for Liverpool 18s today
We ever seen anything like this before, Matthew Shiels named in the Ireland and Scotland U19 squads

#IRLU19 team to play Romania: Maher, Heeney, O'Sullivan, O'Shea (capt), O'Connor, Nicell, Flanagan, McKenna, Keena, Shiels, Scully. Substitutes: McGinty (GK) Cockerill-Mollett, Roache, Dunne, Wall, Dobbs.
Dara O'Shea header has them leading 1-0 at HT. Shocking marking.

whoever was marking O'Shea should be ashamed to let him get away to score. They're standing level when the free kick is taken, when he scores the marker is still on the edge of the area!
Winning 2-0 60mins gone. Aaron Dobbs x 2
Romania scored a late consolation goal so it finished up 2-1.

Joe is in the know! Good job although he couldn't play for anyone else this season at 19s anyway since he had played for us competitively so it makes sense for him To Help us out. It mentions Molumpy injured but also No scully , o hora, o driscoll or mccauley . Is the byrne lad at pats injured did anything ever come of him not doing a drug test during the first round of qualifiers? Does this mean shiels is sticking with Scotland ? He is still under 19 next season. Aidan keena is playing first team in Scotland must feel unlucky not to be included.
Byrne has been injured since pre-season and, looking at the squad selected, wouldn't be likely to get ahead of any of the players there.
that's a pretty strong looking side. any streams?
1-0 Slovakia
Level - penalty.
Finishes 1-1. Did well to rescue a point.
finished 1-1. with seven players being booked!
Next game is against Kosovo, who are playing hosts Portugal in a few minutes, on Saturday
Portugal thrashed Kosovo 5-0, so it's going to be real tough now - two wins are a must, including beating Portugal on home soil, with only one team to qualify
From the highlights it looks like the U19s had the better of the chances
2 up in first half now obafemi an o Connor
won 3 0 if they beat Portugal they will qualify
Portugal beat Slovakia 1-0 earlier. Final qualifier against Portugal is Tuesday at 6
Maybe a dumb question, but any way to watch the game against Portugal? Online?
Look like it might just be, this is on the Portuguese football association's preview of the game: http://www.fpf.pt/pt/News/Todas-as-n...cia/news/15312
