Met him a number of times at LTFC games, he was on our trip to Vaduz, an absolute gentleman and a true football man. RIP Milo.
One of the good ones.
RIP Milo
RIP. Was a great football man.
A true fan of football and decent bloke. RIP Milo
I was shocked to hear of Milos passing. Had no idea that he was ill. He was one of the few people in the FAI that was popular with everyone. I remember him in Vaduz in 05 on our trip. He was synomous with the Setanta Cup. Was it him that came up with the idea in the first place?
Jim Reilly - Dundalk FC Club President

Another of the good guys
Jim Reilly made a massive contribution to the Dundalk FC over many decades.
His infectious attitude, passion, energy and good-humour will be missed. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam dilis
Michael Higgins, the UCD PA announcer for at least the past 20 years. His last match was the U19 final just last month.
I know there's a tendency to be biased towards your own club, but for me, Michael was the best PA announcer in the league bar none.
The Bowl won't be quite the same next season... :(
Ah jesus, that's sad news. RIP
Ah the UCD announcer was a LOI legend. He was almost apologetic if UCD scored.
RIP, terrible news
Was a proper character alright. He was blind in one eye from a botched laser eye surgery; he often didn't know who'd scored. You could see him leaning out of the booth shouting down to the dugout every now and again to find out the scorer. There was even a mid-season friendly where he clearly hadn't seen who'd scored, so I shouted it across from the main stand. Didn't expect to be heard, but he said "Thank you! Number five..."
Unless it was an own goal - he used to say it was bad enough to score an own goal against a bunch of students without the PA embarrassing you further. So he'd either ignore it or try and find someone on the scoring team to credit. My favourite was a goal "probably scored by number 9, Mick O'Byrne", when Micko was nowhere near the ball.
If you were at a game in August, you were likely to hear him talking about his upcoming hiking holiday in Austria, which meant he wasn't going to be at the next game, or apologising for missing the last game because of his holiday.
Remember another game against Derry where he was remonstrating with the Derry drummer to quiet down just for two minutes while he called the teams out.
But a true gentleman on top of it all too. RIP. :(
He really was part of the fabric of UCD, a real distinctive charming part of the trip to Belfield. I remember a game at Belfield Park when he announced the two teams in positional order, then in numerical order, then in the order they appeared in the programme. Must have taken him ten minutes.
I noted him on my many trips to UCD. 'Laid Back' in style, very attractive voice. Great post there by Stu. RIP.
He was working this month on the u17s Final UCD v St. Pats. The welcome and consideration he gave to away fans and teams at Belfield benefited UCD Fans on away trips.
RIP Michael and Thank You.

Very sorry to hear that also, Pineapple Stu.
Very sad to hear that, he was the best announcer in the league
A loss to LOI fans and Irish football - Always great to listen to! RIP
People like that are what make the league great. A sad loss to UCD and the LOI.
RIP Dundalk supporter Sean Bellew.
A nicer guy you couldn't wish to to meet.

Denis O'Neill died yesterday. Himself and his wife Kathleen have followed the Harps throughout the country and throughout the years no matter how things were going for the team. A real character who will be sadly missed.

The death of Terry Murray, aged 89, at his Bedford home has been announced. He made 101 appearances with Dundalk in the late 40s and early 50s.
As well as earning 6 Caps with the League of Ireland while he was with Dundalk, he also received a full cap in 1953 while with Hull City. On his death—18th Oct 2017—he was believed to be the oldest and longest serving club player.

Maxi Mc Cann passed away today, 1960' s Rovers stalwart but a true gent.
Unusual in that LOI era to have a vaguely masculine surname, unlike Bunny Fulham,Rosie Henderson, Sheila D'Arcy.
