Cracking end to the game at the Mardyke, Waters second goal was a peach, smashed it from 25 yards into the top corner. However Cobhs defence is more porous than a sieve, particularly from set pieces. Hendo has a lot of work to do.
UCC are a handy little side, couple of players impressed. Their left back in particular.

Is there a draw or will it just be....
Dundalk v Derry
Rovers v Galway
Pats v Bohs
Cork v UCC
I thought he (Murphy) was appalling in the first half, there were at least two occasions when he allowed the ball to roll over his foot and out of play, then out of nowhere he took off and dribbled half the length of the pitch as though possessed by Messi.
I remember watching Waters for City's youths and being convinced he was destined for greatness mind, so my judgement is definitely open to question, though seeing him again tonight made me wonder how he's never made an impact at a higher level.
Bizarrely he was signed for that Dundalk team of kids back in 2011 (or 2012?) when he was still studying in UCC and was training in Cork. I wonder can any Dundalk fans talk about him? He looked very good as an underage player, and he looked well in his spell last night, though that was against a tired/complacent UCC team that were 2-0 up so I don't want to read too much into it.
Robert Waters, I think? Lets just say he wasn't one of the shining lights in a not particularly good Dundalk team in 2012!
Competitive game up to crumlins og they are a decent outfit and similar to first division sides, when we brought chambers on he was a different class and scored an abdolute belter, tonight emphasised more and more the need for reserve football the young player that scored two goals Sam Verdon has no real game time , too old for u-19's & too inexperienced for the first team the current system is failing such players.Roll on the next round.
We remember nothing about 2012

I know it is only the league cup but I am impressed with the quality of teams left. Are club's beginning to take this seriously?
obviously UCC and Galway would be the weakest of the 8 but any of the other 6 can win it. Depends on the draw. A home draw will go a long way
Quarter Final Draw:
Cork City V St Patricks Ath
Galway United v Bohemian FC
UCC v Dundalk
Derry City v Shamrock Rovers
Cork away midweek feck !
Another trip to Derry, yay.
Great draw for UCC.
Electric cars are the way forward for clubs get discount units off Airtricity.
Opening up nicely for Dundalk again.
Happy to get a home draw but was half hoping for ucc away.
Out of interest, would there ever be a chance of UCC entering the league like UCD?
I don't see why not, but let's face it, the fact that UCD are in the LOI is strange. Having said that, the precedent is there, they have serious facilities and would have the ability to attract players. Also, it would be great to see the Mardyke back as a LOI ground again after what I assume is a 60 absence.
Would actually be interesting to know if there have been any other university teams the top-tier of a European league in recent times.
It's strange UCD are there but, in a league of our size, it's no bad thing either. Would be good to see a couple more Collingwood sides trying to step up to league footballl way the universities do in club rugby. Seems like Caulfield has signed a couple of his UCC players for Cork so there's obviously talent going through there.
Totally agree that it's strange that UCD are in the LOI.
After all they are always stable, cut their cloth, have an excellent relationship with other parts of the game and think in a long term manner.
Totally out of place in this league!
Are UCC playing their home games in The Mardyke? Jaysus I'd almost be tempted to dust off my anorak and make the trip to tick off a really historic ground.
Dundalk reserves are clocking up the miles this season....
Yeah, they played Ramblers at the 'Dyke in the last round.
They play their league games out at the Farm in Bishopstown, across the road from Bishopstown Stadium.
As Donie said they played Cobh at the Mardyke so you'd assume the Dundalk game will be there too, unless they decide to switch to the Cross but that would be disappointing.
And what about Hamilton Academical FC?
University Craiova a played Rovers in a near empty Milltown in the early 80's in the European Cup,( I think )No doubt the date is to be found on the interweb.
Craiova only very recently went pop...
