Do Bray W own the Carlisle Grounds?
I've never used its toilets, but I do think Carlisle is a nice little ground. I'll have to check out the facilities next time though, see what 400K buys!
Independent article is now longer, and here: http://www.independent.ie/sport/socc...-30936986.html
Only seems longer, as it (like RTE.ie yesterday) quotes the club statement in full. The only additional element is a mention of the Quigley dispute, first time in the national media I think. FAI money can be explained, and FAI will help craft the response, I feel, unless there is a real vendetta being waged against former Directors, who didn't always see eye-to-eye with JD (not to put too fine a point on it).
Possibly the real worry is the reference in the club statement:
"Regrettably, over the past few weeks the Club has become aware of attempts to prevent the proposed new administration taking place and canvassing the Club to engage in a commercial property development of the Carlisle Grounds."
The long-term lease at the Carlisle was achieved only after lengthy lobbying, and in the face of stiff resistance by a rump of public representatives. It wouldn't take a lot to raise the question again, and there would be a fair amount of hostility if the bad publicity continues.
Not that the lease itself would be queried, but if there was any legal loophole at all, there would be those who would wish to use it ...
If their is a fraud charge to be answered surley its a criminal case against The directors of the club at the time the alleged incident happened rather than the club itself.
So I cant see it being a major issue for Bray & its new owners.
Just noticed Darren Quigley giving it some on twitter.
He's really not helping himself taking pop shots at anyone remotely attached to bray, he needs to just put up or shut up at this stage
On one hand I agree, there is a way to do things but on the other hand it seems, going by his tweets, that Bray are basically trying to put him off long enough in the hope he gives up.
Here is the contract

Solicitors letter from Bray saying he earns €200 PW while contract says €100 PW.
http://s15.postimg.org/xjb4agxcr/letter.png
That's not the contract he's owed money on. He claims he's owed money for coaching (as per solicitors letters)
He's shown playing contracts, several letters and hasn't provided the contract he's owed money on
If it was about playing wages the PFAI would be on it.
So the only logical conclusion is that he was being paid off the books by agreement with the former board/manager.
It's clear he has been ****ed about by the old Bray crowd but if he was happy to work off the books for them, then he has to take some responsility for the mess
EDIT: oh and another thing that probably points to something a bit murky here is the complete lack of media coverage this is getting. Where players are owed money, the papers are usually all over it. It's only a guess but I think the journos here are leaving this alone as its even too messy for them. It clearly isn't an open and shut 'player owed wages' story
A contract of employment doesn't have to be in writing. Obviously you're entitled to be provided with a written one but it doesn't necessarily mean he's not owed the coaching money just because he doesn't have one. I'd imagine a lot of coaches in LOI don't have written contracts. That said it'll be difficult to prove if it's just his word against Bray's. He'd need ex players or staff to back him up and presumably they don't want to for whatever reason.
The contract is also void if either side is aware that statutory obligations aren't being met
my question is why didn't he come forward last season, why wait until now. Is it because we have new owners/board and he is chancing his arm? FAI and PFAI are not involved so he must not have a leg to stand on!
Perhaps, or he may have been fobbed off last year and then kicked up around licensing time this year as its the time of maximum leverage against clubs.
Also he has said he was not a PFAI member so they wouldn't get involved.
He's said he's been looking for this money for well over a year and decided to go as public as he can to put pressure on Bray. He was certainly looking for the money well before anyone knew anything about the takeover.
He has said others are owed money as well. Surely someone was in the PFAI (which, I'll remind everyone isn't a union anymore)

I don't know the whole story but is this a case of Quigley receiving payments under the table again and getting caught out with it again?
This all looks murky as hell.the only bits that I know abut this is that Darren has coached kids as just for keepers (the kids paid Darren directly) I never heard of him coaching the club.
He has posted proof that the club paid a cheque to just for keepers back in 2012.
I think he should get everything is laid out in black and white and not piecemeal and then send it to the fai, the club and then if necessary post all the evidence online if needs be.
I get the whole frustration thing.
I see he has tweeted today that he has never coached at Bray, but that Bray have paid his coaching company/bank account
The earlier Bray letter suggested the disputed money was for coaching.
I had thought he had confirmed this but I was clearly wrong.
My understanding is that the club acknowledged in the past that he was owed the money and asked him to be patient - which he was - but that after a long time of non payment - he had to escalate the matter - and after getting no where with the club asked the FAI for assistance - when the FAI ignored him he then starting making noise about it - then the club sent him a solicitors letter saying no money was owed - despite the fact that they previously agreed, accepted and acknowledged the debt.
It was confirmed on one of the radio pieces that Quigley linked to that the McGettigan Group takeover is still in process and not completed.
BYW- I once again urge people to be very careful what they post and how they post it on this topic. These people threatened foot.ie before, and I'd hate to see Bray chat banned again!
Bray should be demoted ala derry and cork. With ucd back up (it'll be like the o'callaghan issue never existed) But with the mgettigans just getting involved they'd more then likely lose the investment and go bust. Fai in catch 22 will remain stum on the issue.
Why am I hearing Waterford are replacing Bray? I'd answer it myself by going to the source of the rumour but I can't use twitter for the life of me and google is bringing up nothing.
Speculation because Waterford got a premier license, but Bray haven't one yet. Even if Bray don't get theirs sorted I can't imagine it'd be Waterford going up. More likely it'd be UCD, they got a premier license last year after all.
'As things stand' only 12 teams have a PD licence and Waterford is one of them
I don't think there's anyone who believes Bray won't get theirs
Obviously Bray have received their license now, but any update on what is happening with Quigley and the other players owed money?
Clearly everything is in order, they wouldn't have got a license otherwise.
Quigley was tweeting the other day that nothing has changed with regard to any money he's allegedly owed.
