Thats good news, glad he got the nod. Was afraid Trap would just go for McShane. Even if Duffy doesnt play, the experience of being around the squad etc will do him good.

So that's both Lawrence and McShane definitely out of Trap's reckoning.
it would seem so, can't see any way back for mcshane in particular.
very good positive decision for the future of irish football from trap when in the past he might of just called the experienced player up. credit where due. now awaiting mccleans inclusion after coleman drops out
Coleman and McGeady will be fit to play against the Czechs: http://www.herald.ie/sport/soccer/ir...h-3021308.html
Probably rules out any hope McClean might have had of replacing one of them.
Is that a 'every silver lining has a cloud' type post?
Ha, I wouldn't have minded seeing McClean getting a nod, but if McGeady and Coleman are fit, no worries; all's good. Nearly. :p
Czech squad named, bottom of page in this link

Someone might be able to copy/paste it here

Hopefully people will pick up knocks so Coleman & McClean get their chances.
And only heard of about 4 of that Czech squad...
theres a few good players in the czech league alright, apparently pilar kept his team up last year:cool:
Darron Gibson out for 4 weeks with knee injury according to Twitter.
Liam Brady on RTE last night said he thought McClean was a certainty to make the Euros squad. He said he hasnt been talking to Gio but interesting view all the same.
Nothing yet, read it same place you did I guess.
There's this:
http://www.sos1878.co.uk/everton-new...s-4-weeks-out/
but nothing new there. Smoke, Fire etc.
Seems to be complete rubbish. Nothing on Evertons website...where they have a section just for injuries.
It's true.
This guy's past his best
My dad played the original in the Irish Open in the 50s. Aced him 3 times too, I think consecutively. I also think he was Wimbledon champion at the time.
Gibson officially out: http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2012/...d_ireland.html
Any word on the amount of tickets sold so far?

"it’s important to see them work with the squad” Yes it is, but does that mean they will play against the Czechs?
I wouldn't hang my hat on it just yet.
Article says Fahey and Kelly will return to their clubs, so I presume that means they're ruled out? Says Ward sat out training too so could be a doubt.
Any of you going to this?
yep, I'm going
Me too!
according to the You Boys In Green twitter feed, expected attendance is around 35,000
Would've went but can't afford the time off work. Looking forward to a decent friendly though with a good atmosphere for a change.
According to Dan O'Donnell, Stephen Henderson will be called up to replace Westwood.
With Ward out who have we got as cover at LB bedsides O'Shea? I think Trap prefers to play O'Shea at CB or RB
From the FAI's twitter feed:
Starting XI for Czech match: Given, O'Shea, O'Dea, St. Ledger, Ward, Duff, Whelan, Andrews, McGeady, Keane and Long
...typically the FAI only named 10 players! Ward was the missing player.
No surprises cept Long. Good to see he's taking a hard look at the striking options, especially since Shane missed out recently.
Edit - On second thought I am a little surprised to see we're only fielding 10 players...according to other twitter info Ward is at LB. Also Keith Fahey and Kevin Doyle have been sent back to clubs, declared not fit to play.
Long has only played a couple of times as a late sub in the last 2 months.
He must have looked sharp in training.
Long and McGeady might well be the candidates to be subbed first.
