Was hoping for a comfortable first half lead, so that McCarthy could be brought on midway in the second.
******. Coasting and then a very sloppy goal. We have to start the second half the same way as the first. Keep testing their keeper. We have to try get a third goal and not try see out the game at 2-1.
Duff has been brilliant and Foley has been very comfortable. Such a pity they seemed to drop the tempo and started gifting them easy possession in our half. Hopefully the goal will see them lift it at the start of the second half and add another couple to make it comfortable.
i thought Foley looked a little apprehensive going forward. Afraid to play a forward pass almost. (i did miss about 10 minutes of the half though)
Only ourselves to blame. They think they're being really smart & Italian playing 4 across the middle and just standing off them. We hadn't strung 3 passes together in the 7 minutes before their goal. Only upside is that they scored on 45 and not 80 minutes as I'm not sure we'd have the composure not to concede a second if they scored late. At least now we can regroup and stop playing like it's an effing friendly. Our central mid has been really disappointing. No punch about them and they're not getting on the ball often enough.
What was to be expected in midfield though? Both Gibson and Whelan need a more senior partner to bring out the best in them. Particularly Gibson.

If McCarthy gets on I presume it'll be injury time for Keane. If it's earlier it'll be on right for Duff.
No sign of McCarthy at the moment. No strikers on the bench to bring on so maybe time to change it to 4-5-1 with McCarthy on for Keane or Long
