Quite a few missed penalties missed 5 out of ten a conversion rate of 50%.
Google tells me the average conversion rate is 80%-90%
I expect the conversion rate drops in penalty shoot outs, one because players are tired two because none specialist penalty takers are also used, perhaps thirdly there is more pressure on the players.

Maybe one reason so many were missed was because the first penalty (a good one) was
saved causing players to put their penalties that extra bit higher and wider, but over doing it.
Forced both own goals in Cardiff's 2-1 defeat of Bristol City today
never underestimate the value of good harrying!
Another goal for Joe-Ma this season. Having a great run with Cardiff. Would like to see him given a call up at some stage in the near future.
another goal for Mason for Cardiff. A tap in this time after Kenny Miller hit the post. Puts Cardiff one up on Derby County. Another young Irish lad who has had a great season in the championship.
He has been completely unexpected i woodsay. Did not pull up trees at underage level for us
Scores again, if Cardiff win this, then a play-off place is assured.
Mason grabbed one for Cardiff in their loss today.
Scores for Cardiff again after 3 mins. Only his second goal this season but he's only had 4 starts.
The short answer is no. I dont think he is on the radar of Trappatoni and he probably doesnt even know he exists.
I thought he should have had a look in for a friendly last season (not with a view to the Euros) or a friendly post Euros. If he keeps this form up he is a realistic option and still very young. I have hopes for him though admittedly, i have seen only his goals. But goals are a strikers currency, right?
Joe Mason nabbed another for Cardiff in their 5-4 defeat to Charlton on Tuesday. A tap-in. Seems to be quite predatory going on discussion about him, a bit of a John Aldridge. Anyway, 3 goals in 5 starts now.
Goal Mason. Long ball, Helguson flicks it son. Mason runs on to it, flicks it past Dann with his head to get in behind. Cool finish in to the far corner past Robinson from twelve yards out to make it 3-1.
Just watched the goal. Very impressive. He's an exciting talent, he seems like a proper, old-fashioned goalscorer.
Is it me or has he not been in a few underage squads of late? Is he definitely committed?
Grabs what looks like the winner for Cardiff today.
Off the radar a bit at Cardiff lately but has joined Bolton till January.

bizarrely, he's gone back to Cardiff already, after talks between the respective managers: http://www.bwfc.co.uk/news/article/m...f-1170388.aspx
Cardiff in a bit of a mess at the moment
And even more bizarrely .. back to Bolton again

Scored to put Bolton one up on what I believe is his debut since moving there on loan. Sounds like a nice goal.
Quote:
Goal!
Goal! Bolton Wanderers 1, Doncaster Rovers 0. Joe Mason (Bolton Wanderers) left footed shot from the right side of the box to the bottom left corner. Assisted by André Moritz.
In the brief highlight I saw it looked heavily deflected but he took up a good position and was doing the right thing, maybe dwelt a bit on it before shooting but still, it's one appearance back, one goal already. Promotion with Cardiff definitely hasn't helped his career thus far after something like 20 apps last season and 6 goals from 12 starts, I don't think he has featured at all for them.
Think it's insane that he wasn't given a chance at Cardiff this season after his goalscoring record per games played.

Could be offered a route back to the Premiership with West Brom.
Doesn't seem to be anything set in stone yet.
Well if he can't carve himself out a career I dunno who can.
All depends on whether he can quarry favour with the new Albion manager.
Seems like there is a brick wall in between him and success.
Very good at chipping the ball apparently.
His cousin used to play in Traffic. ;)
If he signs on a free transfer, they can call him Freemason.
I can see him becoming firmly lodged in our first team
Only if he can cement his place in the Cardiff side though. He'd want to be the cornerstone of that team's success
He has been slated quite a bit recently as well. Hope it doesn't block his development
and a pickpocket!
I heard he's a bit of a brick.
