What's the story with Yellow?
Is he in the matchday squad? No sign of him in many preseason games.
Will go for a narrow 0-1 away win to start things off nicely up in Ballybofey, before the 456-0 badgering we give Salthill next week. Stating the obvious, but McHugh will need to be taken care of tonight otherwise things could get hairy.
Not a bad result atall after trailing twice
Stevo got a straight red - gonna be out for next 3 games. Not a bad result. Not too many will get points up there.
Sheahan in hospital in Letterkenny with a broken leg.
As a Youths supporter, shocking news about Gary. Hope he recovers soon.
No stevo or Gary are two huge losses. Makes the trips to cork and shelbourne ten times tougher now. Can't believe that for bad luck for game of the season. Hope Gary Sheehan gets well soon.
Terrible news. It wasn't in the match report so I'm going to pretend its not true, at least for now anyway. Gary out for most of the season would be a huge loss, possibly 15 goals and definitely takes steam out of a promotion bid. Haven't seen the new lads playing yet but by all accounts we have a very strong squad so lets hope we can absorb it. I assume John Tierney has signed somewhere and is not available?
Hopefully its a simple break and Gary will be back playing football soon.
Tierney was with some Junior side last I heard - Pike, was it? But either way he's unavailable. Hopefully the likes of Hynes and Breen can step up now.
Gary was in a bad bad way lastnight ttook them ages to even get himm into the ambulance..Heard he is having surgery this morning very doubtful if he will play again this year.
Steve O Flynn should be ashamed of himself we were down Gary who was clearly badly hurt Dave o Leary had gone off with a gash to teh head Paddy Purcell had to play up front because he was injured but wouldnt go off cos we had no subs and then Steve goes and headbutts someone disgraceful.
Wont have him now for 4 games which seriously hurts our promotion hopes already.
this is no doubt a terrible start to the season.Gary seemed to be having a wonderful pre season and his partnership with Stevo looked awesome.Sympathies to gary and wish him a speedy recovery. Is the transfer window closed? No chance of gettin anyone one in over the next week? i see that Glen Crowe is still unsigned and training with a Dublin junior side. What the chance there.
Or lack firepower now is a massive worry.
One of the major moves in pre season was balls being knocked behind the fullback for Gary to run in behind, it even worked 3 or four times last night, now Glen Crowe has many talents but i'm not sure he's our man for that! :p
With Gary gone I fear we're gonna now spend a lot more time playing around infront of the opposition back four rather than behind it.
Cork away in two weeks (Paddy out for this aswell as the two lads!!) and Shels two weeks after already potentially look like write offs and then we're left playing catch up after five games.
We either need a wholesale switch to plan B now or we need Garbhan Coughlan or Chris Breen to be amazing.
Lads now is not the time for DEFEATIST talk, one game into a league, its up to the rest of the team to stand up and be counted. For Gary the Fans and Limerick.
Being realistic is not defeatist.
good result, tough one for gary sheehan,he will recover quicker than people think as he is very fit but a huge loss.even this early in the season a lot will be learned about the squad scully has put together, sheehan, purcell,o flynn abscence will be a big test for everyone.
come on lims we luv pressure
Two players shouldn't make a team. I don't think many teams will go up to Finn Harps this season and get a result, they are very physical but also have some very skillful players and made Limerick work very hard for our point. A win against Salthill and then we will have O'Flynn back in a couple of games after that. There are some fine replacements there such as Quinn, Breen and Coughlan. I though Quinn was fantastic on Friday he will be a quality player. Breen is fast like Garry Sheahan and with Peter White and Corrie Tracy to come into that defence I think we will deal with the loss of Paddy next week.
Is it 5 days and 5 Posts or 5 days or 5 Posts? I suppose, one day or one post more and I'll find out. Ta.
lads glenn crowe wont come back to the league of ireland. he took that taxback that you get when you retire from the league of ireland.. hes not even allowed to sign as a amateur as the FAI have really tightened the rule this season.. malahide utd are after him at present.
Apologies if that previous Post appears to be a bit random. I did post an 'introduction' of sorts as my first Post but that was held for moderation and doesn't seem to have appeared since I've been allowed to post.
2 player sdont make a team but losing 2 of your best players and in the same positons seriously weakens any team. We are left with just Hynes. He shouldnt have been playing on the wing v Harps anyway offered nothuing out there.
O Flynn is out fo 4 games.
Quinn fantastic? You have very low standards 3 or 4 good touches and was good for the goal went missing for the 2nd half.
Breen is fast like Sheehan but that doesnt mean he is as good.
And Peter White to come back in to defence come back from what he was on the bench in Harps so he is just not picked.
McCarthy was terrible against Harps so no way would i trust him and Calla up against Cummins.
lads any of ye have or hear any feedback following Limericks' training session on Aisling Annacotty's new all weather pitch last night?
I agree but Peter White hadn't played a full pre-season due to illness so he wasn't picked, he is one of our better defenders when fully fit. Just saying we have players to come into that defence (which was poor against Harps) such as White and Corrie Tracy which will strengthen the defence. Ya we will be without Garry Sheahan for a long while but O' Flynn is only suspended for a few games and we have adequate cover if you ask me. Obviously not as good as him but Quinn, Hynes, Coughlan and Breen can do a job up there and Shane Tracy looked sharp when he came on so no reason why we shouldn't be positive at such an early stage. Hopefully all our bad luck has already come.
Highlights here of the 2-2 draw on the 4th.
