You still never answered how John Tierney is bettering himself?

tierney could surprise a lot of people by movin back to his boyhood club knockainey due to family reasons, and with his relation over the team again dis season..at least there in the mjc and fai unlike boro.. john is training with us this week because the season is over..
This is the first mention of Waterford. People said he was signing for the boro. The Limerick lads began to find this rumour funny and that he is too good for junior. You then said that Monkfish was slagging Tierney off because he was bettering himself. First of all Monkfish wasn't slagging Tierney but the rumours about him and secondly there was no mention of Waterford till you made it up now so you had been implying him moving to Janesboro would be bettering himself which it clearly wouldn't.
If Tierney has to go back to Junior for personal reasons then thats his choice but to say he is bettering himself is total rubbish.
They finished a few points ahead of us this year and will be playing in the 1st Div with us again next year. Hardly a giant leap for mankind. :D

Dunno why I bother sometimes but the off-season nonsence makes it worthwhile :hat:
if any signings our rumors are made about players joining the club
Would think it will be a while before we hear of new signings. Would like to see a few players from last season signing on and being announce. Cork City seem to have done well in this respect already making sure they hold onto their best players from last season.
Will need some serious signings to make up for this
told ye he goin to waterford
Serious void to fill now that Tierney's gone. And unless he gets up off his hole I really don't think Stevo's the man to do it.
Good to have Coughlan and O'Leary tied down though. Hoping Scully can make some inspired deals over the winter and have a squad capable of automatic promotion for next year.
Club needs to look at whos getting what, improved contract should have been no brainer for a player like John.
Any chance he was offered an improved contract and turned it down too? Surely he was top of Scullys list of players to hold onto and should have been offered something similar to any prospective players Scully wants to bring in.
If Scully does pull some big signings out of the bag and we do well next season this will probably be forgotten about but if Scully doesn't and the team starts next season poorly the pressure will seriously be on him and people will be saying we should have had Tierney signed straight away.
Think people are over-reacting Jt was brilliant last year but he has had one good season thats it he was awful the year before. Not slagging off JT but Shane Tracy was brilliant last year look at hi m this year could easily happen to JT definitely dont think he is good enough for Prem anyway he played most games as striker and ended with 5 goals.
Get a striker in that scores and a decent winger and i will be happy.
Again before anyone goes mad i am not slagging off JT i think he was brilliant this year and am gutted to lose him but its not the end of the world.
Personally i have always thought Tierney has been good for us. He may not score many goals but for the last few years he always gave 100% for the team. Always thought he'd make a better winger. He played a bit there against Fingal (In Jackman) and Derry at home and he caused their defences all kinds of problems running at them. Standing up front with his back to goal doesn't suit him. Running at it and taking players on down the wing does.
We need a good proven striker who works hard (like Philly Hughes), a fearless winger who will take on players, a tough centre midfielder and a right and left full and i think that will go a long way for us.
Tonight shows how important winning the first division is. Monaghan and Waterford still in the first division next season. Must be gut wrenching for those fans after good seasons for both teams.
We'll need a very strong squad to compete next season. Cork and Waterford will be strong. It'll be hard to tell with Monaghan and Drogheda. Shels will probably be strong next season.
Already thats 6 teams that are going to be going for the first division next season.
Brian O'Callaghan signed for 2011

He's kinda like John Tierney and he's playing junior in Waterford.
Any thoughts??
Any chance??
Discuss the issue. :ball:
The season is over one week. We will be even stronger next season and thats a fact. John Tierney has decided not to re-sign for personal reasons. Who knows that may change and he will re-sign. Best of luck to him whatever he does. Other than that I would say the majority of last season's squad that Pat Scully wants to keep will re-sign. We need stability and need to keep most of the squad together. It won't be for another few months until be hear about new signings for next season.
Grincell is playing Junior
I think he'd be a very good addition. He has pace to burn and is a good player. As you say LTID he is very like Tierney in some respects. Suprised Waterford let him go. Very good things being said about him on the Waterford Forum. He always worried me when coming on against us.
If the Monaghan squad is broken up at all i would like to see Sava signed or maybe a young Limerick goal keeper like Egan (Killmallock) or Neville (Pike) if Ryan was to leave. Barry Clancy has always impressed me for Monaghan and Kildare before that. He is small but he is a very good full back and is quick on the wing also.
Rory Gaffney from Mervue possibly. Think he is a good player. Always stood out for me when we played Mervue and in a better team he might be a better player. Does a lot of donkey work up front.
What are the chances of Vinny Faherty or is he most likely going to head back to Galway United or Gareth Coughlan who are both gone from Pats. Likely to head to other premier teams but you never know.
The wish list could be massive but the actual players likely to sign would be another thing. We need to get in one or two big signings to kick things off and attract other good players. If we sign too many more junior players and unknowns we are unlikely to attract many good players.
While i would dearly love to see John Tierney with us for the comming season i think the "shoud have been offered a better contract cos hes so good" line doesnt stand up. The statement read "John Tierney has declined an offer of re-engagement with Limerick FC for the 2011" my reading is that he doesnt want to talk to the club so did they get the chance to offer him any contract be it good or bad? Does John Tierney want to play with Limerick football club?
Who put JT on the transfer list was it the club or did the player request it? suppose we'll never know but it would be interesting to see if any of his suiters would come in with compensation for limerick for his services. Put a price on him, anyone?
And as for Brian O'Callaghan signing, i recon its good business. Brian has a matured head on him and was excellent in the games he played in the closing matches of the season. His experience will be valuable for the young players Limerick have at the club
Both Cork and Waterford seem to be saying they are signing Tierney. But then again i can't see either being willing to pay compensation for him.
john tierney will be a huge loss if he doesn't sign and I dont think he was offered a pay rise that wud have brought him up too the level of stevo or wat sean Kelly or Rodgers wer getting..he is an excellant player who gives everything he has for the shirt no matter wher he plays every week.. maybe doesn't score enough goals but how many does he make for the team.. he will be a huge asset too any team in div 1...sad too see a local lad with so much talent leave the club for watever reason it is..
glen crowe released by fingal now there's a lad who knows wher the back of the net is althou he has seen his best days he wud surely still bang a few in div 1...
i think we need to try and keep most of the squad together and maybe add a few.If we make to many changes we're screwed as by the time they gel we'll be out of the race.Continuatity is the key.
Would love to get Grincell lovely little player and seemed to always score a few when he got a run of games.
I'd say Glen Crowe will wind up at Bohs or possibly Shels.
We need fullbacks but they're very hard to come by, I always find it hard to think of good ones!! Brian Cleary be a pretty good bet??
What's in town, anyone that knows better than me??
Keepers aswell?? Barry Murphy would be class :)
Two wingers, a striker, a centre half and another centre mid.
No hassle. :p
Yep. Under 24 rule I think??
Already signed Paul Walsh from them before so there is a link there with them previously. Hopefully we can sign him.
Its hard to know who would be up to it from the junior ranks. Some very good players have stepped up and not done well. Alan Barry and Pa Moloney impressed me the time i saw them though. Both strong lads. Cleary has played with us before and would do a job. Had some shakey games with us but over the season did pretty good.
Is Kevin Waters still with Waterford? Was outstanding his last spell with us and is an experienced player. Dangerous on the left for us the last time.
Barry Murphy is a top keeper but if he became available i'd say a premier team would snap him up straight away. He has history with Scully though.
Looks like Vinny Faherty might be on his way to Dundalk also.
Usually the most experienced teams win the first division and get out of it but for the past two seasons UCD and Derry have had pretty young squads.
I know I'm clutching at straws, but if he wants to play LOI, and no other team are willing to fork out cash for him, maybe he'll stay with us?
Hows Chucka doing for Fairview always liked him with Limerick.
Barry Murphy would be class alright.
