Wexford lead in the Almost in France derby!
Shels 2-0 up
FT Monaghan United 0-2 Shelbourne
Well done Shels. We were in bits injuries wise but still no excuse!
FT Wexford 1 Waterford 0
Great result for Derry again.
Great win for rovers. . Twigg is just amazing
Good result, pity didnt get the points last week but sure when you give away 2 goals early on its uphill task. Liam Mailey has done quite well, some fans had theirs doubts and still have but they are never going to be happy and are always looking for someone to blame and I dont think young Gallagher is certain off his place as he has looked very shaky at seasons start. James Gallagher was a good keeper but wasnt tested tonight. If Mailey was in nets he would have kept a clean sheet tonight against a poor Longford team that we shouldve beat earlier in the season. So however is in nets next week, if they let in goals they will be blamed thats football, its a fickle game. Anyhow, I know the boys are working hard in training so keep at it and dont listen to the usual doom merchants who like to complain and point the finger all the time. Com on the Harps!:ball:
Jebus but John Lester is a fat dirty cnut. He nearly broke Stpehan McLaughlins leg tonight and only got booked. He also led with his elbow for every header.
The Longford keeper is dreadful, we should have scored 6 or 7 tonight only for poor finishing, just get the ball on target and you have a real chance.
Longford fans not happy with Cousins at the end.
Harps fans just relieved to get a win and decent performance. Much happier this week. :)
David McGill the difference between the teams in Gortakeegan tonight
Thought you were full value for that tonight, you`re no 6 (bald head guy) was excellent in m/f, clear man of the match for me, but what a terrible game to watch. We had one single shot on target. The game was a just a dreadful standard. But thats football and we`ve moved to the top spot (hardly deserved) but there you go.
Well done Galway - a very well organised performance in a game we fully expected to win.
Shocking first half at the cross. Derry were the better team but their goal was a horrible deflection. Out of nowhere we grabbed an equaliser just before half time.
Second half was the most entertaining football we've seen in a while. We completely dominated with plenty of chances but couldn't convert. Disappointing but would have been delighted with a draw beforehand, especially with Rogers out.
Sets up our game vs Waterford nicely for next week
Agree with that summation micls.
Duggan ran the show in the second half and it was a great save from Doherty to block Cummins. I wouldn't say there were many clear cut chances for your lot, but youse definately ran the show. We haven't won in the League at the Cross since 2000.
We were all over them for most of the game even look at the reports on aertel and extratime
Danny murphys performance tonight was one of the single best performances ive ever seen by any player in any match. . He won absolutly everything !
UCD 1:2 SRFC
UCD had the better of the first half and had a few chances to take the lead. Shamrock Rvs had a better spell in the second half, Rusty double substition on 72' wasn't a positive move, Killer off for Creevy and Shane Fitz for the subperb Wilson. The subs left us with Chris Mulhall as most forward player. Although that didn't stop Brian Shortall, playing as left back, move forward and put a screamer of a ball past the post at the death.
As Dwayne Dwilson was playing LSL Senior 1B last year and has been a huge success in a top six team in the Premier Division this year it surely (sourly) means that the 4th tier of LSL is equivalent to top half of the Premier Div.
One record was broken at the UCD Bowl Stadium last night. The most quietest Away FANS for Airtricity League game. Take a bow FANS of Bohs and Bray and Galway and Sporting and Drogheda and Pats.
No you weren't. For the last 20 minutes of the first half, we were well on top. Rovers were the better side in the second half (but hardly all over us) and Twigg took his goal well but I don't think Rovers could feel too hard done by if it had ended 1-1.
In the end Twigg was the difference IMO.
Does anyone have the result of Rockmount v Avondale in the FAI Cup?
Sligo beat Drogs 6-0 also Drogs had a man sent off.
Great to amond getting a hat trick :D hes a brilliant player
We are unbelievable. There musta been 30 passes leading up to our second goal. Drawda were all over place, no confidence and no organisation.
Richie Ryan's goal has to be contender for goal of the season.drogs are rubbish.their fans weren't impressed either
Go on Padraig Amond! Have him backed to be top scorer this season @33/1! Let's hope he keeps banging them in :)
Great win tonight, frustrating season so far so it was nice to get a good result and see some end product to our nice play.
Can't wait to see the replay of our second goal tonight. The ball went around the pitch to nearly every player before being nicely slotted away by Amond.
did you put much dosh on him de town?
Dunno if it's that simple really. We're playing counter-attacking stuff, so our defending (which has been superb most of the season) is arguably hindering our chances going forward. Attack more, we leave more gaps at the back. More attacking doesn't necessarily mean more success; ask Kevin Keegan.
As well as that (and at the risk of sounding like Dave O'Leary), last year was the first year in senior football for many of our players. This year is the first in the Premier for those same players. There's a learning curve. Wilson on the wing was fairly out of his depth I thought; Killer, Dave Mc and Muller haven't been scoring as freely or getting as much space as last season. That's not to say they're suddenly bad players - just that the players are still learning the game, and in particular learning that bit of guile and movement that'll create more chances. We've more points already from the second round of matches than the first, which I think is proof that we're going the right direction. That's all we can really ask at this stage.
Anyone know when bluebell are playing pike rovers ?
Will prove to be one of MON'S biggest mistakes, Podge should have never have been let go and our squad selections so far this season proves it, we had no goalscoring strikers till 3 weeks ago when Twiggy returned, we depend on Twiggy far to much, if he picks up another injury this season our title hopes will be dashed. We have no other natural goalscorers in the squad. Best of luck Podge hope you bang 25 goals in this season and show the arrogant thick O'Neill what he is missing.
