About 350 at Town v Harps, with a sizable Harps contingent.
Yeah would have said about 300 - 350 with around 60 - 70 Harps fans.
Attendance at Shelbourne v Monaghan United - 877
How can Sligo give an official attendance figure when they have no procedures for counting the number of away fans? Last night some Hoops fans got a raffle ticket on entry, others just paid cash to your man in the shed and went in without getting any tickets and about 100 were let in free on Garda instructions as Sligo at that time only had 1 man in a shed taking money from away fans and the queue was huge. Once again I'll ask how can Sligo give an official attendance figure when they don't know exactly how many away fans were in the ground?
Nope, just a wooden fence around the pitch, spectators standing on grass.
The segregation was a steward ordering all away fans down one side of the pitch.
As some Derry supporters didn't either.
I changed those figures to the official figure released which was 2,779.
For safety reasons cash was taken at the turnstiles to avoid the congestion after the game had kicked off.It maybe should have been delayed for ten mins.
Still was a great problem to have.
So to sum up Week 1:
Premier:
Bohemians v Sporting Fingal 3,200
St. Pats v Galway United 1,900
Drogheda Utd v UCD 400
Bray v Dundalk 1,500
Sligo v Shamrock Rovers 2,858*
First Division:
Derry v Cork 2,779*
Longford v Finn Harps 400
Salthill Devon v Athlone Town 350
Shelbourne v Monaghan Utd 877
Mervue Utd v Limerick 280
Waterford v Wexford Youths 1,000
*Official figures
Scrap the Drogheda attendance. That is a ridiculous figure.
Premier:
Bohemians v Sporting Fingal 3,200
St. Pats v Galway United 1,900
Drogheda Utd v UCD1, 400
Bray v Dundalk 1,500
Sligo v Shamrock Rovers 2,858*
First Division:
Derry v Cork 2,779*
Longford v Finn Harps 400
Salthill Devon v Athlone Town 350
Shelbourne v Monaghan Utd 877
Mervue Utd v Limerick 280
Waterford v Wexford Youths 1,000
Could be more like it.
1400's too high for Drogheda v UCD. Everyone on here who was at the game seems agreed on roughly 1000.
Don't see why we can't take Pat's v Galway as 1558 official; too random a number to make up.
I'll post a first proper update later when I get the comparative figures together off last year's thread.
There was 330 at Salthil v Athlone
The Pats figure isn't official. No idea how they picked that figure at random. The estimates here are about right.
The official figure from Richmond seems to me to be more accurate than some of the guesses here. It was one of the lower attendances I've seen there for a match involving Galway United.
Around 200 tonight at the Shelbourne V Sporting Fingal friendly benefit match.
So, basically, in the 1st weekend about 10500 attended PremDiv & about 5500 went to Div1 games
16000ish all together.
Obv the 1st div is going to be higher than usual this year (a good thing IMO), but how does that total of 16k compare with last year's 1st weekend?
OK, I went & checked for myself - 2009 1st weekend approx figures:
Prem: 14,700
D1: 3,520
Total: 18,220
Can't draw any conclusions from that yet
This is how we finished up last season. Usual disclaimers about reliability, exaggeration, etc, apply.

Figures in bold are mainly or wholly official; figures in normal type are mainly or wholly guesstimates.
Pat's site has updated for the entire of last season - average of 1631 compared to 1721 on here - so I'll go with 1700 for the Galway game for the moment and keep an eye on the Pat's site for an update.
Maybe I'm alone in this, but I think pretty graphically, so I made this.

That has to be one of the funniest things ever. A graph! On a football forum. I love you John!
Any chance of changing the thread title? Im a bit of a traditionalist and the records part at the end just annoys me.
It's the little things ya know.
