Ah come off it, its a classic :D I always thought it was a rubbish kit when we had it. But hindsight is a great thing, cause the 'off the peg' muck that Umbro have served up over the past 15 years have been far more offensive than that one. Llooking at the pics of the up and coming shirt (or Man City Keeper Jersey), it looks like Umbro are still employing trained monkeys to design this years get up!!
For old times sake....

Class!
Umbro designs are indeed muck. And their marketing department is staffed with pretentious prats too. Check out the launch of the new England away shirt... In Paris... With Kasabian:-

Top sarkiness from Guardian columnist Marina Hyde
And here I was hoping they'd do the same thing with the Irish Jersey.......
Quote:
But you may be still be wondering: why Kasabian? "[Umbro] said they wanted to take it away from the footballers for once and do something up to date," the Republic of Ireland-supporting Meighan said. "They wanted to combine with rock'n'roll."
Meighan's da is Irish

i like it. the striped socks add something different- even if their a bit like celtics.
got rid of the big orange eircom emblem-kind of!
would have preffered a collar like the old ones though
not really mad into the ireland jersey's these days, seems to be just the slightest things changing in them, i love the one home and away around 95 (that one john aldridge is wearing) or dougal

Its alright I guess.
I like it - Its oldschool!!
I like it, still won't buy it though due to the sponsor on it
I think it's rather nice. Nothing can top the early 80s O'Neills pin-stripe jersey though.

Bang on Umbro. Now, to get rid of that Eircom logo.
At least there's no orange blob.
I think they look a bit cheap, I didn't like the orange eircom logo on the old kits, but now these kits only have 2 colours white and a sort of blue-green... Hopefully the away kit will be better, the keeper kit looks ok I guess.
Hmmm, interesting.
Like the colour on the shirt and the lack of orange on the Eircom logo, plus the design is fairly stylish but plain. Kinda reminds me of the USA 94 shirt, which are all good things.
But as soon as you think Umbro have cracked it you see the socks!! WHITE SOCKS!! and worse still, GREEN HOOPS!!
Socks aside it looks like a decent enough effort from the trained monkeys in the Umbro design dept.
Is it just me or does it look extremely similar to the rugby jersey, the fai trying to associate themselves even closer to the irfu? It will be known as the aviva jersey.
It looks pretty good, even the tweak with the crest looks alright. The tracksuit looks pretty cool too, well done Umbro. Hope they change the number style though, orange trim won't sit that well with it....
I would imagine they would be purely white numbers..

i think it looks the business.
Really like the look if it based on the photos & video but be interesting to see if the material's any good as some of the Umbro gear can feel quite cheap. Also hope it's not too clingy for the average fan's midriff!! :)
Edit: Apparently the jerseys in the photo shoot are "only samples , the material is a more old fashioned cotton & much nicer to wear than the all polyester". (http://foot.ie/threads/131689-New-Ho...=1#post1320536)
the more I look at it the more I like it
But one thing, why couldn't the tittle on the letter "i" look like a tittle rather than a fada.
Looks like a the Lawro pronunciation. :D
Well it should have been known as the "2010 World Cup" jersey...
Not bad though. Kinda reminiscent of the first Jack Charlton/adidas shirt from 1986. A similar sequence of result on the field would be welcome too.
Once again, the Eircom logo spoils it, they could have at least moved it to the sleeve. And gold? I thought the national colours were green white and orange!
Thought the same re looking like the rugby jersey. Actually like the rugby jersey, but wouldnt go buying that. If anyone knows or can get their hands on jerseys without the logo let us know.
Umbro havent produced a good quality jersey since 2002 so i hope this doesnt have a plastic feel to it like the last one. The "anthem jacket" looks cool.
Very similar to this but i really like it.

Get rid of that stupid logo and you have a top banana jersey. Shame.
Exactly. I won't be buying another Ireland jersey until they get rid of the sponsor. It's a minor gripe, but as newrynyuk says, the colour on our national flag is orange, not gold.
Look at Italy, Look at Germany, Look at Netherlands. Your national flag doesn't necessarily dictate your national colours! I for one prefer the lack of orange. The closer to plain green and white we get the better.
Sure Ireland's national colours technically aren't even green but that's another day's work.
tbh the Irish strip is always ****e, The Irish flag is green white and orange so why not put more orange in the strip. Green is a dull color so more of the white and orange should come into play in designing the strip.
