Partially at fault for the goal I guess, I had just turned it on and had a massive ad on my stream so I can't be sure but the the commentators said Nugent got wrong side of him.
Basically, yes. Nugent had turned and hadhalf a yard on him to chase down a through ball
I think it was just a great run and touch from Nugent. I'd have to see it again but I don't think he could have done much about it.
More of a lucky touch than good touch by Nugent I felt when I saw the replay facing him.
Do you think King will call him up?
Won the Brian Clough Breakthrough Award tonight at the BBC East Midlands Sports Awards...was also up for Football Achievement of the Year Award. Nominees were players and clubs from various sports in the the East Midlands.
This should probably be merged with this http://foot.ie/threads/154941-Mark-O-Brien
I love the end of his wikipedia page:
"Despite impressing in central defence for one of the Championship's best teams, he can't get in the squad for the Ireland U-21 National Team but Niall Canavan and Lanre Oyebanjo can."
Oyebanjo won't be around in a while because he'll be overage, but I'm inclined to think the reason he's in ahead of O'Brien is the fact he's quite quick and strong. Canavan is also nearing 21 I think. He didn't make the last squad and he has been struggling to get into the Sc unthorpe squad since Duffy's arrival. The average height of the U21 defence must be around 6'2" or 6'3". They're all monsters whereas O'Brien is on the small side. I'd love if he was in the squad at least.
I think I read somewhere that Oyenbanjo had turned down moves to league clubs to focus on a maths degree...
He has made good progress this year, here's hoping he makes a full and speedy recovery.
Luck of the Irish...
Hopefully he can make a recovery. Very unfortunate and frustrating for the lad.
To Mark, if you ever read this article. I'm hoping, as a lot of people are that you make a full recovery. I've had my fair share of knee injuries (3), and the hardest part is the doubt that you'll be the same player best of luck kid.
Couldn't find a thread for him, but felt he deserved one. Just some updates on where he is at presently.

There is definitely a thread on him already
Yep, here's the old thread: http://foot.ie/threads/154941-Mark-O-Brien
Great news in any case. Clough really rates him. Hopefully he can bulk up a bit so he can step on to the next level.
I don't like the sound of that though, reminded me of Ledley King, which is not the ideal position a young footballer would like to be in. However, it all depends on what Clough means by "the foreseeable future". He may just mean for a couple of months.Quote:
"It might be a case, for the foreseeable future, of managing his knee where he will not train every day but he will do enough to tick over and be fit and available for the games."
Apologies Mods. I did look for a thread, but mustn't have looked hard enough. Could you please merge them?
where are the puns!?
This bizarre post would suggest you are a nutcase.
He's very pacey...
Just noticed he made the bench tonight. Great to see it. Hopefully he will be back playing regular first team football in no time at all. A lad I've great hope for
Yeah he's been on the bench a couple of times now. Hopefully he's given plenty of time to ease back in.
Didnt think he had made the bench the past few wks. Had been keeping an eye out. Must have missed it
nope, that was his was first sub appearance of the season
He made the bench on Saturday as well: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19939767
Made his return today coming on in the 73rd min. Great to see it. Just wanted to beat CD to the update!
Made an appearance in the 89th minute of the game yesterday - hopefully this heralds a return to first team duty.
Yeah he's been back for a few weeks. Came off the bench in a game last month as well but had been an unused sub since.
Starts today away to Bristol City along with Hendrick. Greg Cunningham making his comeback on the bench for Bristol.
O'Brien delighted to be back in the fold after long-term injury
"It feels brilliant to be back; during the week I didn’t know what was going to be happen, I was hoping that I would get a chance and for me to see my name in the starting XI was fantastic.
“It was great just to get the win but the clean-sheet today makes it that extra bit special. The lads were unbelievable today and you cannot take anything away from them – everyone played their part.
“I had a bit of cramp towards the end of the game but aside from that I am on a buzz now coming back into the side and hopefully I can push on from here.
“Keeping a clean-sheet is as good as scoring a goal for me; I get the same buzz from it. Keogh was in my ear the whole game talking to me, telling me what side he was on and what to do – I cannot really say much more about him, he was brilliant today.
"I cannot take my foot off the pedal with the likes of Jimmy (O'Connor) ready and waiting to come in - who has been very good this year"
Started for Derby yesterday in their 3-1 win against Boro. Pity they didn't hang on for the clean sheet but good that he was a part of a very good team performance. It's already been said elsewhere that Hendrick and Sammon got on the scoresheet, Hendrick's supposed to have been a cracker. I was hoping that Football League Show would be on BBC last night but no sign of it.
There was a piece on Mark on the local East Midlands news, showed a few clips of him in action, he looked
pretty impressive, obviously they are going to show him looking good, but even so I was impressed it looked like he knew
what he was doing, didn't just mindlessly head the ball away, made sure they kept possession.
Obviously that's only 30 seconds of play the other 40 hours might not look so good!!
Derby could made the play offs.
This guy doesn't have much luck...
Mark O'Brien out for 6 months
Unbelievable. hope his luck changes after this.
