Sligo Rovers are calling on all local business in Sligo and the surrounding
counties to show their colours ahead of the club’s upcoming FAI Ford Cup
semi-final against Waterford United on Friday October 23rd in the
Showgrounds. The club wants to see the county painted red and white and are
encouraging local shops and businesses to proudly display the club’s
colours. Flags can be got through the club and the club is hoping that
there will be a large response to their call. This game is without question
going to be the highlight of the Sligo sporting calendar and it has
captured the imagination of the Sligo public with the game fast approaching
a sell out. For further information or to get a Sligo Rovers flag for your
premise please contact Sligo Rovers Club Promotions Officers Keith O’Dwyer
on 086-8235780 or 071-9171212.
Let's see how well it works...they'd do it for the gah alright but Rovers I'm not so sure. Hopefully.
Get out of that, although usually this sort of thing is kept for the final, to be fair the town was covered in red and white flags and bunting in 94 in memory serves me right, it's a tradition around the town although usually kept for the cup finals though. Corporation look after the streets, shops look after their own stores, people look after their own houses and cars etc. Deffo getting a flag to hang out the bedroom window, it will be handy too for getting some fresh air into the love pit !!! :p
How are the tickets going for this does anybody know, can imagine there will be a big run on them just before the match if it is like the Derry match from a few years ago. How many do Waterford get? I think they will do well to bring a couple of hundred. as they seem to be only getting small crowds.
Cookie appealing for support for us here http://www.sligorovers.com/ on friday week.
Rovers, and I'd guess any LOI club, don't refuse money at the gate.
Shamrock Rovers often do.:p
I heard they only asked for 150 tickets for the match, that seems very low?
come along on friday night if you ain't got a ticket. don't worry we wont refuse cash. there will be plenty of place & bring some friends to.
Spot on totally agree 1928, The club need to be pro-active in this, it would be class to see this week if something like this could be done as reaching a national final is a huge thing for any Sligo team in any sport. It's can be difficult for shops and businesses to source these things themselves, easier for the club to organise the flags and bunting. They could do a much bigger job around the town if we reach the final.
Does anyone know where you would get the Rovers semi-final online?
rte.ie try
Was just up at the office in the showgrounds and there seems to be a good few adult tickets left but they seem to be running short on kids tickets
Any word on who the officals are yet ? I'm not going if its Richie Winter.
really need to avoid complacency or over confidence......all out effort.... Waterford will be no push over
Just had an advance look at the weather forecast and altho not too detailed looks like there will be patchy showers, might have an effect on attendance but hopefully it will be clear enough and the wind appears to be calmer than any of the other days this week..........In sayin that it was met eireann:rolleyes:
All concession tickets are sold out.
Agree , really looking forward to this now , walked down talbot street in the rain to get the champion and the special supplement got back opened the paper and it was missing raging , on a lighter note interesting to see the Model getting 2.4m and ballymote copshop getting 3.8m imagine what we could do with just 1m in the showgrounds which surely must be of greater public significance and benefit that the model.
What's the name of the pub near the Showgrounds? Mooneys? Looking forward to a session in Sligo whatever the result of the match. Not at all confident. We're in shocking form, we've to play a kid in goal and will have SFA on the bench. That said, stranger things have happened. That penalty shoot-out two years ago is still fresh in my memory. Couldn't believe Robbie Hedderman of all people scored the winner.
