Best of luck to him..
Have to say though if the 80,000 fee is correct thats seems very little for team to be selling him for to team of premership quality
On the bench in Old Trafford today.
Birmingham have a few injuries but still a brilliant achievement for him. A year and a half ago he was on the bench for Galway United
He looked a bit scared there :D
Best of luck to him!
Surreal seeing O'Shea come on and shaking Rooney's hand at the end, it was only a couple of weeks ago he was having a very average game in Tallaght stadium. Getting shoved off the ball by Evra and putting in a poor cross was about all he managed to do but fair play, he was never expected to see the first team that soon.
Gets a couple of mentions in the minute-by-minute on the Guardian:
Quote:
"O'Shea is on Birmingham. I have no idea who went off. Apologies. [..] O'Connor finds O'Shea wide on the right and he gets plenty of room from which to cross. On his Premier League debut, he aims his cross straight into the arms of the keeper."
Nice to see him get a game but the only thing to remember about that debut was the location, looked starstruck which is quite strange to see, Got absolutely bounced by evra and looked afraid to take him on next time he got the ball out wide but good luck to him
I saw his last game in Bray for United when he scored in the 90th minute to win us the game , now his next was in front of 75,000 at old trafford . What can I say to top that so happy for Jay 'O :):):)
I think he needs to bulk up a good bit. Obviously his training is going to take a step up and he'll be playing around better players at a higher tempo which will help him improve physically as well as technically.
His first few games for Galway United he was terrible I thought. He was scared to take anyone on and to be honest I didn't think he had any great talent. Once he got a bit of confidence and settled in he was one of the best players in the league. Hope he settles in at Birmingham and gets into the first 11 after a while.
He's started the Carling cup game tonight against Southampton.
Hopefully he will impress.
was taken off at half time
did anyone see his performance?
given its carling cup and they have injuries, to be taken off at half time i certainly would read into it.
that would be my first impression too Paul. Unless its an injury, to be taken off at half time against Southampton is not a good sign...
I don't know so. If no-one saw him playing then it's impossible to know why he came off.
to assume is to make an ass out of u and me umberside, but in this case it may be safe to do so, yes so, maybe we are both wrong though...so who knows, so.
What's happened to this guy?
Rotting in the Brum reserves, I take it?
When he moved there I didnt even expect him to get on the bench for the first team this season so he has done much better than I expected to get some game time. A season in the reserves would not be the worst thing in the world for him, its a massive step up from Galway United to Birmingham so I dont think its unreasonable to give him a bit of time to adjust.
Having said that Im not convinced that he is good enough for the Premiership but we will see in time
He's good enough for the premiership in my opinion if he wants to be. It will all depend on how he devolps and gets on over for the rest of the season. He would more than likely be in the reserves but it would'nt be a bad idea for him to be loaned out to the championship or league 1.
Gone to Stevenage in League 2 for a month long loan.
Extended his loan:

Just got his first goal in English football for Port Vale, apparently a volley from 20 yards.
Not bad for a first goal in England

released from birmingham now any chance he'll go back to galway
This guy was a total bust
moving to Chesterfield on loan, along with Connor Townsend: http://www.chesterfield-fc.co.uk/new...an-497808.aspx
Nice to see Jay O'Shea scoring both goals as Chesterfield gained promotion yesterday to League One.
Sligo Rovers connection too with Paul Cook and Gerry Carr in the management team.
Two goals today as Chesterfield come from two down to lead 3-2 at Yeovil. O'Shea got their second and third, second meant to be a cracker.
Just seen the goals, his first (their second) was indeed a cracker!
