jason hughes has lots of ambiton and is one off the best young lads in limerick
shane clarke has no ambiton jason hughes is simply way more concentrated then clarke and a better player
what is was trying to say is that clarke should follow jason hughes cause jay has lots of ambiton
a little education for the ignorant is in order.
S.clarke played with the boro starting as a 7 year old up to and including under 15. he played 2 seasons with wembly as the boro had no youth team at the time.his brother tomas did the same,
his father played for 20 + years for the club, his uncle is a club trustee and past chairman.his mother is a lifelong club member as are the majortiy of his immediate family.
i would imagine that most people would consider that loyalty to a club..
what club would your loyalty apply too?
Jason Hughes, what has he done this year?
In my opinion, in the time Clarkey was with Limerick, he did more than Jay has done all season. And you can't blame a lad for wanting to go to a club where he's grown up, admittedly it doesn't show the highest level of ambition, but it shows loyalty and I give the highest amount of respect. :D
Played for Ireland. Has toiled to reasonable success out of position for Limerick.
Given that Clarke is a young lad I wouldn't judge him too harshly but it doesn't say a whole lot for him that he's changed his mind so quickly again. If he's willing to go back to the Boro so soon I'd question how commited he was to Limerick in the first place and if he wasn't sure that he wanted to play LOI then he shouldn't have signed. He's clearly a very good player and best of luck to him.
That said he filled a Paul Cummins sized hole until Robbie K came back into the fold anyway.
Letting both him and Scanlon go (if Scanlon has signed for Fairview) is leaving us fairly light up top though.
i think limerick will win 2-0
enough about clarke '' steve o flynn is back limerick 2-1 (tierney ' Tracy Pen)
Ryan
Molan ' O Callaghan ' Donnelly ' Deady
tracy ' colbert ' roach ' Finnan (boyle)
Kelliher ' Tierney
Might play
boyle
o Flynn
Kavnagh
He's captained Ireland, so? That doesn't make a difference to our club in the slightest. Jason has been poor this year, you can't deny it, whether in position or not, he has been poor. Better of in the centre of midfield, however, you do realise that at the chance, he'd skip away from Limerick. Again, a case of over rating our players.
A bit harsh. His point was he wouldn't have played for Ireland if he was having a poor season. He started off well, got injured and just when he was getting his confidence and form back, he got injured again.
Not a poor season in my opinion, he's just been unlucky and theres no way you could question his commitment to Limerick.
Back on topic, I reckon thought has a draw written all over it. 1-1. Graham Kelly is referee so expect controversy. :)
Limerick 0 - 2 Fingal (Williams, 4' & Kirby, 30')
:(
Lost 4-1 in the end. 4-0 down until O'Flynn robbed the keeper, who had tried to dribble out of his box.
Fingal looked a very good side when attacking, but our defence offered very very little resistance.
happy with that win. Its not often yous let that many in.
First time coming away from a game this season when the young fella didn't ask me about when the next home game was on. Interesting reaction when I pressed him about it. "It was much better last year"
Very hard to argue with this. Good players like Danno, Tommy, Walshy, Liam Barrett, Brian Cleary, haven't been replaced and the amount of partners Tierney has had up front this season tells its own story. Midfield was just embarrassingly bad, no pace out wide and the lads in the middle couldn't get near the ball. Scully isn't blameless here. Stevo looked so much sharper when he came on and the call to start Robbie was clearly a mistake. Senior games shouldn't be used to get players fit
Also the bird **** on the seats last night was appallingly bad. If you're going to charge into the stand then I'd definitely pay an extra euro or two to cover the cost of some suds and water an hour before the game.
Does anyone have the Fingal line-up and subs ?
You didn't ask what he'd done for Limerick, you asked what he'd done this season. As well as that of course it makes a difference to our club when players get international recognition, it raises awareness of the club both locally and nationally if nothing else and makes us somewhat more attractive to potential investors/sponsors/supporters.
And while he's not been as good as last year he's not been awful either, much, much better than some players that are starting week in week out. You could count on one hand the number of our players who have been consistently good this season.
As for last night we were well beaten by a better team. Centre-halves were being murdered both for pace and, more disappointingly, in the air all night, Deady was constantly missing tackles down his side, Shane Tracey couldn't seem to get to grips with things in the middle at all.
Wayne was busy enough but couldn't do it all himself and Kavanagh and Kelleher showed enough about themselves to suggest they'll have plenty to offer with a few more games behind them.
Season's been over for a while but after last night I don't think anybody could even pretend that we're in with any kind of a shout of challenging.
what a miserable effort friday night was.the team performed and looked like a bunch of misfits even allowing for the fact FINGAL are fulltime.we were outclassed and it was sad to see several players blowing hard 30mins into the game.that particuliar back four were a shambles with o callaghan most notably being shown up for lack of pace and importantly fitness.given scullys general game plan is not to concede its little wonder he slumped into the dugout late on,however his own performance on the line in the second half reminded me of SKEE such was the extent of the language he used...a disgrace.the players that have come in will not improve the team, kelleher, kavanagh,o flynn have all talent but are not fit enough, the others are no better than what we had e.g..donnelly for danagher.people talking about scullys looking to next season should get real ,he wont be at limerick.also whoever writes the ....upbeat...weekly in the local indo should be honest with the facts, clarke was on his way back to boro...FLU?colbert was at a wedding......flu?hold on maybe it was flu which would explain the miserable crowd present on friday night.....wayne and shane have a lot to answer for.
Would agree with the above poster on a lot of points but saying O'Flynn will not improve the team is a load of crap, O'Flynn coming on and scoring is about the only positive of this game, looks fairly fit too so should probably be starting games soon. Defence was an absolute shambles on the night.
Oh yes we would all listen to jasson purcell before pat scully.Boylers did ok in the game and he might get on fairview team if we release him thats where most the squad come from anyway.
People always keep saying that though but Limerick beat the Junior teams the majority of the time when they meet. I'm sure Limerick are trying to get the best players around they can but maybe some of the better players have reasons why they are not playing for Limerick FC, maybe they are happy where they are with their Junior teams and don't want to make the step up or can't commit to travelling around the country to away games on fridays or are looking for more money etc... There are loads of reasons why Limerick might not have everyone of the best players around but all they can do is work with the players who are willing to play with them and who they can afford.
Centre halves were shocking.
So were the full backs...i'd excuse roche cos hes new and was out of position but deedy was woeful.
Shane Tracey can not play central mid in this division.
Wayne battled hard but was over run by the extra man they had in midfield...and their accurate passing.
Tierney for all his hard work is missing chances he should be taking.
Kavanagh looked good on the ball, the boy can dribble but if a pass wasnt to his feet he didnt want to know about.
Kelleher was obviously unfit, could not trap the ball all night but worked hard i thought.
O'Flynn was encouraging when he came on...but i hate the way he drifts out to the wing so much...he should be in the box. his goal was comical...like something from a video game...when the keeper drops the ball and tries to dribble it outfield.
scully needs to get the finger out, lots of work on the training ground needed with this present squad, most of which he has brought in....or at least supposed to have brought in.off the pitch he needs to start laying down the law, current players discipline off the pitch is certainly of questionable nature and its reflected in on the pitch performances ,eating a big bag of greasy chips is hardly ideal preparation on matchday ,neither is playing a mickey mouse junior game midweek when you are signed semi pro footballers.
oops, someone has got the finger out alright,i am hearing the ass.manager is gone.
had to go to a friend's wedding friday so couldn't go to the game, but a friend was texting me to updates. the only bright point for him was unsurprisingly o'flynn's goal which he said was very similar to a pro evo moment when the keeper tries to dribble it past ya:)
