don't know, but we have lovely new pitches at flancare and it could be the opening tournament....
Well how about a match when City play De Town at the start of April?
That'd get the ball rolling.
i can't speak for others who normally play in these games , i first want to crush section O
Just ignore Max Power, he's just a blow in to this 5 a side lark and won't be on the section O team....
The proposal to the floor was that UCD would host first, then winner's host from then on.... I think a tournament would be better, but nothing to stop matches being played around fixtures if they can be arranged. IMO you wouldn't/couldn't expect all teams to fulfil all fixtures in a league format (and we're cross divisions at the moment anyway).
macy carful what you say, i never said i had anything to do with section O and have clearly stated i am against you if you bother to read what i said, you have also chickened out of a game against the stand so put up or shut up yourself......i'm no blow in by the way........
Chicken? I'm just waiting to confirm I'll be down the weekend of the Bohs game. I should be so we'll have that provisionally.
Blow in to this 5-a-side lark. Not blow in to anything else.
no blow in just back from a year long injury....i've been playin sport in longord for many years...........i just can't wait to silence section O for good, it will be such a plesure.....
is that what you call it?;)Quote:

fúckin hell, the old eL MB Match seems so much less hassle than this.....
i thought it wouldn't take long for macy's other half so dig his way out of the hole he crawled into.......yes rugby, gaelic, basketball tec...have i come against you by any chance ???
Spelled out "New to this eL 5-a-side lark".
FFS
Careful now guys, ye'll have too many injuries after the Longofrd Derby to take on anyone if this keeps up.
well said..........a report of the flancare derby will appear in the coming weeks on crime line !!!
I remember ya buying red asics football boots to match your red trim on the Ballinalee jersey...
clash with your red hair tho...
i still have them boots some where, sad if you remember me buying boots, were you stalking me at the time ???
that's right, they didn't do much...Quote:

Surely we'll be too busy getting locked?!Quote:

If we were sober enough to play them we'd hammer them but us being sober in Longford is probably expecting too much really....:D
Same for us as well....Quote:

macy macy macy, if you cared you'd be sober...........
I was think some time on Saturday afternoon. Around 3 or 3.30 say. Hangovers gone from the night before. Lunch time drinks nicely settled.
Is the bar in Flancare going to be open for the new season. If it was we could go to the stadium before the match, play the game then head straight to the flancare bar til kickoff.
1 hour is hardly going to hurt our drinking time, besides we usually play better with hangovers:) (well some of us)
even if macy says to ignore me, you may do so at your own pleasure and not as his wishes.....
the bar isn't open yet, more the pity........
If the Longford lads are going to have a little bitch-fest, might I ask that they use their own forum?
The problem with playing a big tournament on the one day is the logistics - i.e. getting anywhere near 22 teams out on the one day. If we can get that organised, then I'm sure we can sort out the astro in UCD for a day and run a mini-World Cup thing.
I'd still prefer to play the weekend of a match though. One hour isn't going to eat much into drinking time, as SÓC says, plus playing the bit of ball gets everyone together and works up a thirst for the beer too!
Overnighters/Saturday games would suit this perfectly. I don't know do most fans come back straight after the match or on the next day? Even 6:00 on the Friday evening gives plenty of time for home fans to head out from work and both fans to get to the match afterwards though. Plus, each match would only be played once, not twice, so if there's problems with one day, the match can be switched to the other fixture.
Just a suggestion, I think it was fairly clear that a tournament suggestion was the preferred option the last time round, just after checking the fixtures for the league, the best upcoming weekend seems to be 1st / 2nd of May.Quote:

Cork are in Dublin that weekend, Limerick are in UCD on the friday night, why don't some of the UCD heads organise the pitches for the weekend (provisionally) ask for entrys, and see what happens, set a deadline of say 1st April for entries, see how many clubs express an interest. I reckon if you get eight of more clubs to enter it would be worth a shot.
i am staying out of this, certain elements within section O don't want me involved so enjoy........
:rolleyes:Quote:

Best post on this thread in a while. I think it all makes sense. Anybody else agree?Quote:

Seriously, I think it will be far too easy. I predict I'd get 15 goals and we'd win 23-2 (with them scoring their 2 when it's my turn in goal!).:)
if you play against section O i agree, but if the whole of flancare park comes together i feel things could be very different.......a truce could be wagered for the greater good, you heard it here first............

whats the beef between section o and the stand all about??
many things, the fact that they "sing" while we enjoy the football would be the main reason ...but also the fact that they can't afford a stand ticket makes them jealous too.........
but the war must end some time and to defeat cork would be a perfect way to start, the hand is extended by max and the truce has been offered......
whats wrong with singing while the match is on??(football chants i assume)
we are a cultured lot in the stand, we rather spend our time watching the beautiful game and roaring and shouting........
Ok I'm going to take a Dr Phil attitude to this
Max and Section O guys I know you have conflicts with each other but I'd kindly you to sort it out amicably in your own forum
And I'll also take a Stone Cold Steve Austin approach
Y'all better quit your whinin' before I shove a boot up your ass!!!
Were all going a little off topic here, I was wondering if some of the UCD lads were prepared to take responsibility for organising a tournament, I would be prepared to give a hand in any preparations, Dublin City would be prepared to host the information on our site www.dublincityfc.com
that way we might even be able to come up with some sort of profile for the thing.
I'm sure the eircom League would be interested in this, and if UCD want to inquire about astro turf availablity and the rest for a Saturday morning / afternoon, and just pick a date, let the rest of us know when. and we can start to organise this.
Pick a date in the middle of may or something, gives everyone a chance to get together and plan something, which could be really big. I'm sure if all the supporters talk nicely to their respective clubs, they might even get a loan of a kit for the day, we could try and get some of the €7 eircom money, to pay for proper referees. Does anyone want to get involved. It could be deadly, even if we only got ten or twelve clubs involved we could make a mini world cup out of it.
We'll have to pick the day carefully though. It has to be a day when all the teams can be in Dublin. Longford, Derry and half the 1st division play on Saturdays so it could be a little awkward getting a day when the participating teams aren't playing.
