Played well IMO. Has the makings of a very good player.
Good cover for CM when we need it, he has plenty of time to improve on his strength, thats what lets him down but hes only young and not even fully grown so only time will tell as he can easily get muscled off the ball, otherwise a very good player. Slowly but surely, the youths are coming up and performing again, Kizzy Kelly,Jason Noctor,Eoin Torpey and most noticably Danny keohane have all done well and Danny Fallon will hopefully be the next player to make a good impression.
It wasn't even a contest never mind a close match - Bohs could have had double figures had they taken their chances we didnt have a shot on goal in 90 minutes.
We did well to get to half time but considering the team we had out it was a great effort and Chris Kelly really impressed as did Keane at Centre Back (harsh pen from where I was sitting).
God, talk about writing a lad off after one game. You obviously made no allowance for the fact '.....he was up against a good Bohs defence and had very little support....' not to mention the fact the match was in Dalymount.
Have you any comprehension how much of a step-up that was for the youngster.
Sorry for expressing an incorrect view, Mr Shankly !
Was only commenting on what I saw and at no point did I write him off. Just said he had a stinker and I know that plenty who were at the game would agree.
wasn't sure which thread to post this on so i settled on this one
just wondering when the game against bohs is in the ea cup?what date (if any)has been set?sometime around the august bank holiday?
The other semi is on the 4th. Our game's the 3rd.

Any chance of it being on Setanta Ireland ? I remember them covering the Final last year, not sure about the semi-finals though.
so lads what do we expect now? after pats i thought we had it cracked and on the way up but i said as i sat in stands last nite lose here and we wont beat bohs.............. well slept on it and maybe not as optimistic but tho we never were god enough to beat galway i dont believe we were poor enough to lose either. monday someone is gonna have to step up to the plate and become the leader on the pitch !!! we need a general out there to keep the lads organised, concentrated and confident. i still believe we can win it as any player worth their salt will wanna play in the final and if the lads turn it on we are capable of winning
rovers to win 1 nil
We never usually play great in Terryland so last night doesn't faze my optimism. Just hope the lads put a bit of heart into the display, at the end of the match if they do that and are outclassed can't really complain.
If the match is a draw is there a replay?
think penalties but i cud be wrong
ah come on sligoman think positive, anything can happen
I think we can beat Bohs, there just has to be optimism and belief amongst the players now. They need to know this is the closest we've come to silverware in a long time (well 4 years) if they put in a performance like they did against Cork City in the FAI Cup then we should be very optimistic. They need to remember they held Bohs to a 0-0 draw with both teams having thier strongest teams out, and we beat Derry City the week before. If we make it the Final could it be held in Sligo ? or if you UCD go through would the FAI try to keep it in Dublin :(. No reason we cant get, Wexford got the final at thier ground. We;ve got the right size ground,in good shape and what better way to attract out the town than a Cup Final ?

A comfortable win for Bohs with some "heart" by Rovers but lets face it thats never enough when you face a team like Bohs.
lads we should have beaten bohs at home and they were very mediocre in dalymount, alot is been made out of the defeat against the crusties but we were all overconfident after pats, the game against pats we had 3 debutants gelling into the team but pats were brutal. we came up against an organised galway who were no better than us and tho we were never good enuf to win we should have drawn. the lads have now had 2 games to gel and its a SEMI FINAL...............if the players dont up their performance for a chance of a trophy they are not worth havin. monday will tell us a lot about who is up for the fight and who is a passsenger. monday for me is the bigest game of season we will see a lot of true colours and then we can evaluate, until then lets be confident. cork match has to be a sign this year the cup favours us
For some reason i actually think we may sneak this :). I can't see Bohs playing a full strength side with a big league game v Cork on Friday. Some of their players have had a tough couple of weeks and i think seem a little jaded as Drogs had a fair few players missing the other night and nearly beat them. Going for 1-0 or 2-1 us :)
We have to forget what happened in Terryland. Cook should get a performance out of them and if we play well, and bohs don't, then we have a chance.
Cash and Camano for McGrath and Doyle?
can camano play midfield, young marshall maybe out the left. i know he is right footed but so is doyle. i have to say doyle does nothing for me even after his wonder goal i said he does not do enough and never closes down. as for mcgrath i dont thik he is bad. wins a lot of header, very composed on ball and puts a boot in every now and again. has anyone notced conor not really getting the tackles in. fair enough does a lot of closing down and covering but we dont have a real enforcer in midfield. maybe ventre could do a job there we know he loves a tackle !!!!!!!!!!!
Yep.
www.sligorovers.com has team news now........

Good luck to the Rovers
