Agreed.

Pretty sure reality won't believe them though.

Quite possible that, yet again, when we thought Bohs had screwed things up as much as possible, they screw things up even more as only they know how.

I love the way they're described as having "exploded back on to the market". You'd swear they'd come up with some signings that have "rocked Irish football" in tabloid parlance.

Shelley, Keegan, Byrne, Ndo, Rowe, Matt Gregg....they'd challenge for a place in any side and their wages would also ...in England!!!
Laughable really, wonder is the journo trying to say something without saying anything re Bohs relationship with the FAI??!!!

People in Athlone are trying to work out where the �24,000 figure has come from. I was under the impression that the patron fund had stablised the club and as this was ring-fenced to settle outstanding debts one of which was player's unpaid wages then this would be the first debt to be settled. There will be major rumblings in the Town if it turns out that Athlone Town have failed to pay the players.

:confused:Is anyone else sceptical or wondering where the indo got its info from...do you really believe the licencing committee went out and released this sort of info before they've decided on licences and before the application deadline!or even do you believe each individual club came out and said they owed this to x and that to y!!

I don't know about the first division, but I'd be very surprised if all 10 premier clubs didn't get licenses to compete in the division.

Waterford United have responded to suggestions that they may be in danger of receiving a license to participate in the League of Ireland this season.

Story in today's Irish Sun that Cork City backroom staff who were owed money. last week received cheques from the club shop account which subsequently bounced?

Also, some players who were also due money, received cheques on Friday afternoon - too late to lodge/cash in the banks?

Any truth in this?

That was my thought as well Dodge.

However I now believe that Ahern has a tenuous grasp of the licensind and therefore tried to expalin it with the ****** above.It is obvious from the rest of the summaries he doesn't have a clue.

Surely City's situation with Mathews is the same as Bohs this time last year with Connor, unless the licencing rules have changed.
Don't remember any question about Bohs licence last year.

Absolutely, which is the point I was trynna make at the start of this thread: the courts, and not the licensing committee, will decide if that money is owed.

I don't think it's quite the same. Bohs claimed to have reason to dismiss Connor for gross misconduct, and even if that later proved to be utter BS, Cork don't seem to have any reason for sacking Matthews other than plain not wanting to pay him.

I'm sure Tom Coughlan (and his solicitor) will strongly disagree with you that. The point is the courts will decide that, not the LC

As much as id love to see harps stay up (purely selfishly for the derby matches), there isnt a leg to stand on as regards cork, only hope is Drogheda.
