There is one in Terryland too

Been watchimg it on the net. have to say that Judge and Gleeson have really impressed me. Scannell too
Ireland well on top now. Long time since I've seen a German team this rattled.
I just saw that this was on SS2. I thought, oh feck I've missed it, how could I miss it.
Then I remembered I cancelled my sky sports subscription 4 months ago.
Scannell, Spillane, Garvan, Gleeson and Judge( a little on the small side though) are the only ones I would have any optimism about
I can see how Sheridan can’t get many games at Celtic. He has no ball control whatsoever.
who was man of the match then?
Maybe Gleeson would have been my motm. Meyler did well too but I can see him getting sent off a fair bit unless he calms down. He turned away from a German trying to shake his hand after a nothing foul. Not really necessary. Looks a good player though.
Garvan did well in the support role for Sheridan. You could tell he wanted to come back and dictate the play though. The 3 of them midfielders played some lovely one touch football in tight situations on occasion.
Sheridan had a heavy first touch for most of the match but I thought he was excellent for the last half hour or so. Great low pass for Garvan in the box when most players on the pitch would have played the cross in.
Scannell impressed me tonight a lot more than he did the for B team a few months ago. Judge reminded me a lot of Willo Flood at this level.
2 full backs looked good on the ball but had tough times off it. The last time I saw Moloney play for the U19s I think he was playing defensive midfield as far as I remember. The 2 centre halves did well. Both won plenty in the air.
I'd say McCarthy might have played the role Garvan did tonight so him being injured forced 2 changes. Looking good though at this early stage against that quality of opposition.
was the final score 1 - 1?
yes...........
Decent result against a good side..... Givens must be in line to replace Trap after that:)
Only caught the second half
Scannell was quiet enough, though I saw the HT highlights and it looked as though he had a good first half.
Sheridan looked laboured, poor first touch, though won a fair bit in the air.
Judge impressed me the most in the 2nd half, a few great balls in, beat his man on a few occasions as well.
Henderson in goal made a few decent saves as well.
What happened to Barry Maguire ?
Yeah 1-1 against the Germans isn't a bad result, especially when you consider that our team was a lot younger on average (and at U-21 level, a year or two can make a lot of difference).
Don't let your hatred of Givens sway your judgement of an individual game.
No way should he still be in charge of our U-21 team, but a good manager can manage a bad performance, and a bad manager can manage a good performance.
Thought it was a decent performance. The midfield of Gleeson and Myler were excellent and Garvan who was played in a forward position. When he came back into the middle things really started happening. Both wingers had good games Scannell in first half and Judge in second. Maloney looked adequate as did Spillane. I was disappointed with Sheridan, who has Champions League experience, perhaps a bad night. Liddle looked ok, good going forward. Thought Redmond and Lowry looked a bit iffy.
Only Redmond & Sheeridan disappointed me. Henderson looked far more composed and capable than Redmond.
The German winger (Ben Atira?) was top notch and made Moloney work hard but by and large I liked what I saw. Meyler looks like a good ball winner and Gleeson used the ball well. I'd like to have seen JJOT play for a bit.
I can't believe he didn't give JJ O'Toole a run. What a waste of a week for the youngster. Whats the chances of him being injured when the next squad is announced and who can blame him.
Givens:
"Liam Brady was due to be here last night but there were problems with the training in Dublin so they all watched it on TV in Portmarnock.
"I had a text immediately after the game from them, saying that they had seen the game and Giovanni was impressed. The German coach was very impressed with us as well, he said we were very good for such a young team.
"Giovanni has already had people like Sean Scannell and Owen Garvan in for training with the senior squad, and he would have seen a very good performance from Stephen Gleeson last night, so a few of the boys didn't do themselves any harm last night.
"Overall, it was very good for us. We got some new caps out there, some good performances, we had a less experienced team than them, the Germans are playing at a higher level than our boys, and we deserved the result.
"Brendan Moloney had a tough debut at full back as he was up against their best player, but he gave us options going forward. David Meyler was excellent, he was strong in midfield when we needed someone to put a foot in. All of the boys who made their debuts were excellent."
"Qualifying is a possibility, we're in a tough group and for a small nation like us to qualify for the finals is bloody difficult. We have to top the group and then play home and away against another group winner, so it's a tough ask.
"But it is possible with this group. We had players missing last night who will come back into contention so we'll give it a good go."
