how do we not ? who owns our staduim then ?
You're wrong Micls. It can only be sold if the proceeds are used to build a new stadium for the club, proceeds that the club get (less €50k owed to the FAI).
The FAI cannot sell it or give to anyone else. Theoretically the MFA could kick Cork City out and give the ground to another Cork team. That cannot happen to United Park.
Irrelevant. The FAI own the ground, even though there are conditions attached
Only if there were another team playing league football, Cobh for example.
However it has no relevance. Im not claiming we own the ground, or that the situations are the same.
Im simply saying you dont own United Park. This is a fact. If you did, you could use it to ensure you didnt go to the wall on thursday. If you do go to the wall on Thursday then Im sure the FAI will let some other team use it
did you hear the one about the only club refused a prem licence 2008 due to its playing surface and then had to replace same surface to obtain a licence for the 2009 season who came on to this thread complaining about other grounds pitches. stones and glasshouses my son
Giller to take over Drogs managerial role?!!??
Em no.....
Im sure you know full well the difference but in just in case.
In a mortgage, a bank loans you money. You use the money yo buy a house. You owe the bank money. Of course if you don't pay, the bank can go after your assets i.e. the house.
In your situation, you sold your ground to the FAI. Yes there were conditions, the fact that it would only be sold to help you buy a new stadium.
Its quite simple, if you owned United Park you probably wouldnt be in examinership. You'd have it as an asset that can keep you alive.
Your club might go to the wall on Thursday because you dont own United Park.
But if you wanna believe differently work away
Has it struck anyone as kindof odd that the government has had no input into this at all. Here we have an industry that employs people who pay their taxes,or are supposed to anyway,in difficulty. If jobs go the taxes will be lost and labour will have to be paid out.Why are they not involved in some supportive manour as they would in any other industry.Ironic that it is they who are the major threatening debtors in the Drogs case.
I havent even mentioned the fact that if the league was finacially supported the anual leaue winners might be able to compete in Europe and would maybe fill the empty hotel rooms when the visiting teams come to play in the champions league. In other countries its called tourism income?
Buit I suppose we dont need the money that other countries relish.Ours has to be bringing Americans to castles.Money is Money no matter what the scvource??
The government has much bigger problems than the league right now.
Even if the government had the slightest interest in helping the league out - which they don't - there wouldn't be an ounce of public sympathy for bailing out a league that most of the country at best ignore, and at worse look down on, that has got into trouble not through any change in market conditions or due to the credit crunch - but purely and solely because it can't run itself anything close to sensibly.
I wouldn't even support a government bail out for an industry like that.
No, I quoted you word for word. There's no club in this league beating customers away with a stick. There's no club in this league "trying to keep up with a thriving demand".
I agree with Pineapple Stu, youre talking DUNG "AFACE"....
And as for your Celdrog, I am right behind you kid as every genuine fan is also that the Drogs come out and I for one "BELIEVE" they will as well as keep their Premier Division status!
To which i said .... Exactly and then supporting the notion that they couldn't give a toss about the leagueQuote:

I know, i should have read over it before posting, i'll always doing it though :o
I would have thought so as well but we're wrong apparently. A few businesses that need to expand with demand cant because the cant secure funds from banks or government.Quote:
I don't think any business in the country is struggling to meet thriving demand either, mind.
What is an SME?
Kinda like Finn Harps so:p
I agree, because the government and the public have, historically, every right to pour nothing but bottomless scorn on the LoI. How about LoI clubs deciding to run themselves efficiently and then looking for financial support in order to progress once they have realistic and attainable development plans? Surely that's not too much to ask?
It's at least a more dignified form of begging.
Untrue to say that no one complained about Monaghans pitch in the past, Gareth Cronin certainly did last season. Back on topic though Oriel would be the obvious place for DUFC to rent, how their fans would take to playing in a "bouncy castle" would be interesting. Would Morton Stadium not be more accessible to DUFC? Possibly closer as well than Oriel.
I think you'll find the closest ground for us to play in next season is United Park. All will revealed in the next few days ............
