Still, the point is can a club hold out for a fee whose original contract they could not honour? All depends on the detail of the cut of course and whether a new contract was signed at the time.

exactly Saigon Jayo is contracted for next season as is Gary Rogers . Any player on Bohs books will be free come next week methinks if the rumblings coming out of Dalyer are to be believed.
Doolin says in the local rag that Gartland is not part of his plans for this weekends game against Harps. Club not confirming that he has left. He did come to the Drogs fans at our last home game and applauded and threw his jersey into the crowd. Best of luck to him.
Gartland would be top of my list along with Dan Murray for next season. We could only take one of them and they would still have to take a wage cut, although the price of living is a lot lower here than in the 26 counties.
I'll be happy with what we have with the addition of probably Holmes and one of the above two.
I don't see us going over the €24k a week next season again although I think clubs like Bohs and Cork will probably have similar budgets to us (depending on Bohs legal worries) and only Pats will have a larger budget.
So I think the Derry team next season will not have changed at all apart from losing 2 and signing 2 players.
Limerick probably just going to try hold on to as many of the current team as possible and maybe ad one or two more experienced players to help push on for promotion. The budget on wages supposedly being upped slightly.
Depends on whether we go up or not. The board will more than likely stick to a fairly low budget no matter which way it goes.

Who will be leaving - Possibly Harggy and maybe McHugh
This isnt really a transfer but i can almost 100% gaurantee you Scully will be appointed the new Dundalk manager ..
was in the stand for are game last night..
John Flanagan is retiring.
Flano will be a huge loss to us..
wonder IF we do win the league this year would flano be persuaded to give it one more go in the premier
Disgraceful reports eminating from Oriel about the Scully thing "Lilywhite Army".............a mate of mine works with one of the players and he told me Scully was offered the job at Dundalk after a 3-1 defeat in Wexford over Dundalk and low and behold Scully leaves Rovers , who had to pay him a mad amount of money to go a few days later.....no matter what you say about Gill, no manager should have to deal with that disgraceful situation.......my pal said the Board at Dundalk are jokers and even said they didn't care about losing away from home but when there is a home defeat the bar profits after the match suffer greatly!!!
Is 'my pal said' now enough to back up your post on this website?
Kevin McHugh will be coming home if we stay up.
Sligo are looking for Parky off us as are a few other clubs.
Word is, Cook has handed the Sligo board a list of players he wants for next season and the budget he requires, if he gets it then he will be staying there again next season.
Cork will be basically a locally based side next season from what I've been told.
A few local journos were saying last night that Mark Duggan has had his contract cancelled. His profile has been taken down from the Bray website but there's been no official announcement.
Rumours are either he refused to take a paycut or he had a falling out with Eddie (wouldn't be the first...or the last :().
EDIT: Also heard that Graham Gartland had his Drogs contract cancelled and has a few offers over in the UK.
heard last night at monaghan utd town match last night that shane harte has left us.. he got in trouble for playin a gaa match for newbridge last weekend which was on tg4.. the inconsistency is annoyin me a lot how come our gary murphy is allowed to play gaa and not shane harte??:o
I'd say one of the 2 was Chris Breen.
Gary Murphy isn't playing GAA while under contract to LTFC or if he is he'll be sacked too. Harte denied he was playing GAA until they got to the county final on TV. He the decided he'd had his fun and didn't turn up for any more matches or training. He was then formally sacked. He's not much addition anyhow.
A weird one. I heard Fingal had offered cash to loan Colin Hawkins from Brighton for a year, had they gone up.
While players were not getting paid at Shels, captain fantastic Heary was getting his wages every week as was his manager...
because so many of our players are from outside cork right now? Danny murphy and Dan Murray consider themselves Cork Men at this stage - so that leaves Darragh Ryan, Pat Sullivan (who is apprently going to UCD) and Lawrie Dudfield, as well as some young fellas from Limerick/Tipp/Kerry and Behan I suppose isnt from Cork either!
the majority of the Cork City team has always been from Cork City and County, this will continue next season.
Someone on the Cork forum was talking to someone who was talking to Sully.
Thats not true.Heary got out of his contract due to him not being paid every week, hence why Bohs didn't have to pay a fee for him as he was on a free transfer.
Jason Byrne was the only one who got his wages paid every week,as shels knew that they could cash in on him as British clubs were sniffing around.
