According to football365, the deal is dependent on Blackburn signing a new goalkeeper, probably Paul Robinson.

Why do clubs keep doing this to Kiely? Portsmouth bought James who is only as good as Kiely and Carson has been dodgy ever since the England Croatia debacle. Something must be wrong with the guy for 2 different clubs to do this. Charlton were happy to let him go too. I have met him and would not think it could be his attitude, certainly not his ability.

I remember reading somewhere (either a letter to the editor, or more likely on a message board) an English fellow suggesting calling him up. He was ridiculed for not realizing Kiely was a full Irish international, but I thought it was a good sign that our reserve keeper was good enough to be in that conversation.
