Do they contact clubs when they are doing this? Surely the clubs have some rights over it as well, seeing as they are the biggest stakeholders as regards the content. I mean if they are going to tape over it then they have no more use for it, give it to the clubs and leave them have it, even with an understanding that they could use it when ever they want.
The broadcaster/production company has paid for the rights of the footage. They have further edited that material. It's the company that takes the images that has the rights. For right or wrong.
The subject has lost entitlements before the event took place.
Your argument is very romantic but on a previous post you rebuked another member because they suggested that the First Division get a look in.
Owen Morrison for goal of the season for me
Excellent - those of us of a slightly older persuasion actively seek out opportunities to express a minority view and this is one.
I really like the 60 thing - her questions are generally nonsense but that is not really the point.
The point is that it is reasonably funny if the player is up for it and it is a good part of an overall excellent show
I think it gives a chance to see a bit of the personality of the players and that is something this league needs badly, for people to be able to connect and indentify with their "local heros".
Ahh, rebuke is harsh given i dont make the rules, am not employed by RTE/MNS and my opinion has no impact whatsoever, an email from me would only carry the same weight as anyone else who contacted them re: First Div.
I personally dont agree with it, and i also have what is sometimes described as a fairly draconian view on tv money in that i think it should be shared equally between all 22 clubs. I'd be castigated for that as well no doubt.
I think the only solution for it is to give me more of a say of what actually happens in the league so i could champion the first div cause ;)
I'm the same, its nowhere near as bad as people are making out. For the casual viewer who may not be a LOI fan it breaks down the barriers and makes them realise there are actually blokes like any other in the game, not just a collective that is pigeon holed and ridiculed.
Alan Cawley was good on last weeks show.
Not just saying that coz he plays for Bray
Mackey was decent enough except for the comment on the Crowe penalty. He seemed to be saying that despite there being no foul, it was right for Bohs to get the penalty because they had been on top and didn't score and therefore 'deserved something'.
Someone might try explaining to him that the keeper is part of the UCD team, and that keeping the ball out of the net is the job he's there to do. :p
Maybe we should consider a rule change whereby after missing a certain number of chances, you're given a penalty.
Agree Five, it was like they were saying Bohs had a right to handed a crazy penalty because they had a number of chances.
The U-16 thing was a joke. Fine interview Big Nose and Big Waist but at least make some attempt to relate it back to the league! One of them mentioned Dessie Byrne and we get a half second flash of him in a Pats jersey. And Foy was mentioned loads without any comment about who he plays for now. We all know were those two play now but the regular non loi Joe doesn't. How fecking difficult is it to interview Foy and Byrne??
As for 60, they need to start leaving the Pale a bit. Surely they can send a local camera man to record the players answers and splice in Jacqui Hurleys questions after if its costing too much to have her running around the country?
