Songs In A+E I would guardedly recommend, actually maybe not even that much. If you've not got any Spiritualized you'd be far better going for Ladies & Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space and/or Lazer Guided Melodies instead. And Pure Phase!
Haven't any of the Fannies albums after Thirteen so can't comment on the last one.

Worst thing though is hearing a couple of singles, liking them enough to buy the album, and then finding out there's eight or nine other very good reasons that they were the two singles. :D
Not his best solo album if you include the stuff with the Catholics but still a good buy. The first half of the album is fantastic stuff, the second half less so. Still worth it though for that first half. If you like the Pixies then you'll love it. I always thought his pre-Catholics solo albums could really just have been Pixies albums - especially the self titled 'Frank Black'.Quote:

My top recommendation would be another Scotish band though, Trash Can Sinatras. Sublime, melodic pop music. (Might be a bit laid back for some tastes, but I love it) Weightlifting and I've Seen Everything are wonderful albums. I've neglected buying up the Pavement albums for years - Brighten the Corners is the only one I owned - so I'm really looking forward to finally emersing myself in "Slanted", "Crooked" and "Wowee Zowee".
Am I over romanticising my late teens or was the very early 90's a great time for music?
