was up getting my match tickets today for the sunderland match, and I have to say that with the concrete beams going in on top of the steel work it is starting to look damn good. Plenty of lads up there working away so I would say that it will take shape much faster than we think ( or at least I hope so :) )
Sat in the top tier today, what a view. Bring it on. Peter G is the man!!!!
Some more pics are on the official site now.

Lads i can see it now there are going to be complaints about the new stand as is too high , i can see the locals around terryland going to the local council saying that they can't pick up RTE on the telly anymore and the new stand is the problem , you watch .
Its too late as all planning deadlines are closed.Peter G. is the Man alright hopefully his work will be rewarded on the pitch and good luck to him and all at Athenry next saturday I would urge United Fans to get up and support a man who is the main man at GUFC.
Surely they couldn't have started building it without planning premission?
I think Claret was having a bit of a joke about the height of it. The stand is fully compliant with all planning regs.
Is is the full lenght of the pitch?
read the first page of this thread - 70-80% of the length of the pitch
The stand is taking shape very quickly allright, from playing in front of it on Sunday , I can only imagine the atmosphere will be fantastic when theres a full house.
Fair Play to Peter G allrite, great supporter of the local game, and been fantastic in all the work he's done for us over the last 35 years.
anywhere the plans can be viewed? saw a disabled fan recently atbterryland and she was stuck by the corner flag so was wondering what facilities (if any) will be in place for wheelchair users
Upto date pics here http://www.galwayunitedfc.ie/menu-it...o-gallery.html . I was up there last night its looking class.
Just a couple of quick questions:
1. Are the floodlights staying where they are.
2. Is the front row of the stand as high as it looks. It looks like the front row of seats will be 6 or 7 feet off the ground.
Looks great by the way. Well done!
The floodlights are going on top of the stand ie. no poles obstructing the view. The foodlights in the old stand are also being mouned on top of the stand and all new seating in maroon fo both stands.
The stand is approx 8 ft above ground level whic will allow approx 400 in front standing.
The stand looks class and the fact that the lights are bein moved will make it even better. Twud be great to be able to fill it every secod week it'll be a tight ground with the supporters right up close to the action. It could become a cauldron for visiting teams. Is there any point in suggesting that the Galway FA name the stands rather than calling them City centre side or Waters works side? Possibly naming them after former United greats/great Galway soccer players.....or would it cause too much trouble trying to decide who they are named after?
i love thge view out from the tunnel. it'd be brilliant if we could get the vocal home support directly across from the tunnel. it'd be great for the team if that was the first thing they saw, it might also intimidate some younger opposition players
Probably posted already but what's the capacity of new stand? and the current one too?
4000000
