The Irish League (the Gibson Cup) is I believe the original IL Championship trophy. However the current Irish Cup was donated to the IFA in relatively recent times by John Lunn's, jewellers, Belfast, in memory of John H. Lunn the owner and former Linfield chairman. The Irish Cup is not called anything other than the Irish Cup.

Pre the breakaway to become the FSFA (I think tha is right), Southern Irish teams competed for, and won, both trophies.. so yes, they are the original Irish League and Irish Cup.
