I took the time and trouble to write a long, detailed post about the iPhone here, but I'm having second thoughts. Mostly because Apple is renowned - nay notorious - for closed services and ideas, which goes against my need for cross-platform tools.
I don't have any choice now anyway, I lost my SonyEricsson P910i the other day and I need to buy a replacement immediately. I'm leaning towards the Palm Treo 680 over the Blackberry Pearl. The Pearl seems fiddly, and the Treo will work in Linux (PalmOS).

The new OS for iPod, is it worth all the hassle of upgrading? Don't have one myself, but is it worth getting the old version for cheap if there isnt much difference?
Better camera, better video playing facilities etc. The camera is only 3MP, hardly revolutionary. If I was getting one, I'd probably get the old one for a knockdown fee and still use the software update. A lot of bleating going on here about the endless updating of iPhones...
Oh right, didn't realise there was a previous hrdware update too
Was looking at this earlier.
Phone contracts down there are ludicrous!!
Well compare the UK and Irish packages
O2 Ireland
O2 UK
You get far more for your money in the UK.
Three are the best I've seen so far in Ireland but they don't do iPhone.
Hope they'll do the N97 when it comes out
While I'm PAYG with o2 and all my texts are free (though I think they've stopped that...)
Anyone got it??
was thinking of getting one just wondering is it worth it???
Right i bit the bullet and bought the new iphone 3gs..but...i cant seem to get on line using 3G anyone have any idea how to do it...i mailed O2 but no reply...
any help would be great:(
Make sure 3g is turned on. Go to settings/general/network and then enable 3g.
I reviewed it over the weekend if that's any help. I think posting a link up here might constitute pimpage and I don't want to annoy the boss man but if you PM me I can fire it your way.
I'm sure the tech mods'd welcome an editor/contributor. ;)
I could be wrong, but don't you have to request the settings from o2.ie for 3g? I know I did for my n95. It gets sent as a text message, then you add it to your connection settings, then Bob's your uncle - high speed interweb access on your mobile!
