Leinster got through last season without too many injuries (unbeaten for 14 games or something) and only went out of the ERC to Leicester away (the hardest draw they could have got). They don't have any more Celtic League games now either so that will lessen the chances of injuries.
Munster have a tough group too. They have to beat Gloucester at home now which I'd fancy them to do but it won't be easy.
That though was a game in which Leinster had more than enough chances to bury Leicester.Quote:

The Celtic League might be over for Leinster but, the winter internationals aren't. Hopefully everyone will come through Saturday ok, I wouldn't wish injuries on any team.
I'm all too aware of how tough Munsters group is. That said, recent signs are encouraging. In a close game, a la Saracens 2000, I reckon a packed Thomond Park will see Gloucester off and we'll ultimately see the Heineken Cup take its rightful place in Thomond Park.:)

I'm not suggesting theres no atmosphere at Munster games just i suppose it different to football games in the same way GAA different too.
I've seen Munster in Cork, Limerick, Lansdowne & Cardiff & the atmosphere is more the comradery sort then the 'if we lose tonight i'll be depressed for weeks' sort.
Maybe i'm a sunshine rugby supporter?
I still think the crowds will drop for Munster if they stop winning - in any sport people enjoy watching their team win more than anythinge else. Its unrealistic to maintain full houses for every game & i think their home in the ERC this season already wasn't a sellout for possible one of the first times?
Crowds probably wont drop off that much because Munster will only play about 10/11 home games per season. Interest is easier to maintain as a result. Thats where soccer has a difficulty over GAA and Rugby the soccer play too many games.
I follow all sports and as atmospheres go Thomond is a special place to be when the boys in red are winning, but the cross' is still unbeatable for a big game.

Not by a long shot. Munster will rarely draw a full house for games that are foregone conclusions, as the majority of home games are. The sell-outs have always been the really massive ones: Saracens 08/01/2000, Biarritz Feb. 2001, knockout games in general. Not forgetting the Gloucester match in about 7 weeks time, there won't be an inch of space at that one.Quote:

Just to add my two cent, I'm from that hotbed of rugby that is Limerick but I take no pleasure in Munster's achievements because we shouldn't be allowed to enter provincial teams anyway. I mean just because our clubs aren't up to standard??? Let's be realistic, our soccer teams get whipped in Europe most years so should they be allowed to merge for the purposes of European competition too? I don't think so. Because half of Europe would do the same overnight. And let's be honest, even clubs from countries like France, Holland and Portugal have no real chance of winning so we can let them pool their resources too. In fact let's punish Spain, Germany, England and Italy for having their leagues in order. And just to even it up even more maybe clubs from the big four should start with ten men or have to play two players from their youth set up or put their goalkeeper into one of those sumo wrestler costumes? All in the name of equality... bah humbug... And how many posts does it take before I lose this 'new signing' label?
Rugby has a very different set up to football. If only real club teams could enter, the quarter finals would consist of 7 or 8 English teams, 6 or 7 French teams and maybe a Welsh team or 2. No one else would have a hope. Not like the way a Greek football team doesn't have a hope against Barcalona or Arsenal but more like the way Bray wouldn't have a hope against Real Madrid. The Scottish and Irish teams would be beaten by 50-60 points in most games and interest would plumet.
There isn't enough money in Irish rugby for fully professional club teams, even the provinces lose money with pretty good crowds. The provinces do actually have a history (any Munster bore will remind you of when they beat the All Blacks!) and wouldn't be like a 'provincial' football team, the Dublin Bohelspatvers or something.
