I can't see Galway or Dundalk being promoted even though it looks like they want Galway up there.
If Galway was elected at the expense of Bray or Waterford or UCD would the demoted club launch a legal challenge?
Would the prospect of the all new bells-and-whistles-supa-dupa-zippitty-dooda-league being delayed with bad press be a deterant to bringing Galway in?
Did the clubs, when agreeing to the takeover of the league, sign away their right to appeal?

would love to see dundalk up, great fan base and one of the most illustrious historys in the league, would be a fine addition to the league. UCD will probly be safe and id say shams will go up aswell.
One thing the FAI have to take on board with this merger and their new Uberliga. As long as real football retains it's basic principle of being a meritocracy it will remain the World's greatest game. Screw with that basic principle and who knows where it could lead?
This invite is a once off. Eventhough this is not a breakaway those types of leagues typically have an entry criteria. The FAI could just as easily have said you need minimum number of stand seats or terrace. As Belfield only has temporary seating UCD would be excluded. As i've said numerous times before the clubs voted in favour of this process. I believe UCD are safe however being made to sit in the 1st division for one season would have zero impact on you in the long term. You won't lose monye, crowds or players & would most likely get promoted next season anyway.Quote:

On the 10% for Infrastructure 60% is for future plans- and we certainly hold the upper hand there. Of the other 40% most of the marks are for fairly straightforward stuff, but Galway would obviously be somewhat ahead on current facilities.
On the 15% for club licensing- hard to say which way this would go, wouldn't say there'd be much in it though.
15% for strategic planning etc. Both clubs have a clean licensing record, strategic plans and from our problems this season we can certainly show how our financial control and monitoring works. Galway probably present their plans much more slickly, but we can point to a completed five year plan as we move into a new planning cycle. Again probably no clear winner here.
10% for target market, attendances and population density- both have big areas to themselves, Galway have by far the upper hand on crowds this year but Harps probably have better over the past couple of seasons which count too. Again I can't see a really clear winner here.
Of course the IAG may have their own ideas (and anyway assessing this stuff on the basis of a 1 hour presentation is a fooking joke), and be simply ignored by the FAI anyway, but as I read the stuff Conor I don't see quite why you're so dismissive of us.
The IAG has now done the assessment of all the clubs in the country and have brought forward their results to the FAI who will now decide who stays up/down in the respective divisions.
EVERY CLUB agreed to this set-up and no pint in whinging about it now, the only club that didnt agree is the now defunct CHF.
As far as i know the present 11 teams in the premiere will stay but will be joined by Rovers for 2007 season.
But as i said its the FAI will now make the decision.
No Mons didnt agree to it and we have no chance of being part of this league unless all the other teams above us go bust.....where did i put the direct line number to the collector general?? :D
