Limerick to leave Hogan park for Greenfield Site?

I believe that the FAI plan to sell Bishopstown at some stage and use the funds to build a centre of excellence/training facilities on the north side of the city.

They acquired the land during the fallout from the end of Pat O'Donovan's time as chairman in the mid 1990's. As I recall they gave the club vital breathing space to allow a take over be set up.

You would wonder how a greenfield development in Limerick would be viable. Land around the city must be expensive and how would any loans used to fund the purchase be repaid?

The land (between 7 and 11 acres) has been bought on the south side of the city (but in the county if ye get me)

It's a brave move. Is the land completely empty or is it a site that needs cleaning up? In fairness it shows a dedication that I'm sure to many is bewildering considering everything he is up against. Two years into his vision for a competitive Premier operating Limerick FC he must now rue every laying eyes on NOC, Fr. Joe and Hogan Park. Most would probably have walked away.
Any idea on plans for this ground, how they could be funded?

Still hard to know how the building of a stadium and subsequent running of the club will be financed.
Not many grants likely to be available with the FAI having the lease to Hogan PArk.

sticking with Hogan park looks like the best bet for the club for the moment.
