Pedantic point maybe, but the term investor implies that you expect to get a return back from your money. Unless Ollie has found the Holy Grail I can't see anyone getting their capital back, never mind getting a return on it.
Before the Shels fans dust off their high horses again, this isn't a swipe at Shels, even the best run EL clubs are effectively charities. They aren't exactly where you would stick your cash for a rainy day.
It makes it interesting to see who Ollie has lined up as beyond the usual vanity reasons, I can't see why anybody would be sticking money in when the only asset would appear to be in hock already.

Clearly in the last few years they have brought in more players than they seem to be able to afford, living beyond their means and there is the whole tax thing aswell. What ever anyone says, there is something that just isn't right at Shels, prudence is not being practiced. The investment figures mentioned in the paper are remarkably similar to the figures presented to Bohs as to what Shels expected to receive for the sale of the lease on Tolka for the groundshare/robbery of Dalymount Park.
If I was a Shels fan i'd want to know what this investor will actually get, but hey i'm sure Shels fans will tell me it's purely for the love of the game & the investors just want to make sure the players get paid every week.
Then again Shels fans never question anything about their club.
Who was the other team that made it from then 1st round to the group stages? Must have been a few years ago when it was a bit easier.Quote:

Shels have always had investors and just because your an investor doesn't mean you will get a return, its a high risk business.

You think other clubs spending reflects the amount of people coming through the EL gates??? Do Drogheda have any investors? Did Cork ever turn to someone when they needed money.
You all seem to have a problem with the amounts of money Ollie is able to bring to Shelbourne.
Why don't you fans who are so concerned about Shelbourne put some effort into securing investors for your own clubs? seen as how your all so heavily involved in the day to day affairs of your clubs and so up to speed with all things EL.
In fairness I haven't seen anybody criticise Shels for bringing in money (bar the Di Stefano deal obviously) Its the way its spent people have trouble withQuote:

Oh and whilst you're at don't forget how small the league is in real terms. All managers know each other, all players know each other and all chairmen, CEOS, etc know each other and if there is trouble at one club, you can be guarenteed all clubs will know within the week
Not to mention the way they spend the money they don't have. Higgins, Shels failed to pay the players on time, I don't know why you're so smug. If Ollie has indeed secured more investment, good for Shels, but I'd be worried and angry if we weren't playing our players on time. It's unfair that Shels can attract the likes of O'Halloran and Kearney away from Cork who are more fiscally prudent if you can't even pay them. As Platini said, it's cheating.Quote:

Players are brought in on the basis the money will be there to pay them. If its not then every player can walk away from their contract and find another club.
The player enters into a contract with the club abd are well covered these days if they dont get their wages. Its the clubs job to find the wages every week otherwise they wont keep their players.
You lot seem to think its unfair Shels can use investors money to improve the squad. It happens everywhere!! Its part of football.. You take risks and hope it pays off or else you do a UCD aim for the minimum requirements all the time and never try anything new.
The fact its been working up to now for shels annoys you.
Does anybody know how far away the two players who have walked are or what direction they went? They started walking about a week back and we have had no reports since then.... have they reached Cork yet ? or was it Drogheda they were going to.
Shels have attracted so much money to their club they are millions in debt and losing their home to a bunch of speculators.
Tony Maguire achieved similar 'success' at Rovers and was lucky to escape with his life.
