You can bet that if we got €250k for Doyler at the time, then we wouldn't have got such a clause as this.

Risteard, no way man .... sell on clauses were the first components of any contract going back 30-40 years i'd say .... its not like they are a new thing, so much so that they are bog standard additions to any contract.Quote:

Didn't know sell-on-clauses were that widespread.
Doyle had a sell on clause at a very low value as we all know. Reading did not have to add any further clauses for caps or promotion but i would think city tried to get them in with promise of a quick deal as other clubs were sniffing around & Reading could have lost out.
Clubs will never be sad to pay promotion or international cap clauses as means as is win-win.
