To use the term Post Celtic Tiger Spoilt Brat syndrome.....what in the name of Jasus is that about? You must be a sociology student or something? Are you ahappy to accept that we always go out as unlucky losers? Is give it a lash your philosophy?
I hate to say it but one phrase springs to mind reagring our hopes of success over the coming years and the end result of this "head hunt"
"FAIL TO PREPARE, PREPARE TO FAIL"
Did I miss something? What did Staunton fail to prepare?Quote:

Just because Delaney is a friend of Staunton doesn't mean it was the wrong decision. Only time will tell on that.
I can't wait either. Besides the opposition fans and the few defeatists on this board (who are hoping for an "I told you so" moment), how many of the 60 -70k do you think will be hoping we lose?Quote:

Yeah and perhaps the having Van Basten in the Dugout and we having McDonald, and Staunton.....Quote:

And the next he hears is that Staunton is appointed to the job. He was giving out about their treatment and how they conducted the appointment. However that was about 25% of the article, it was mostly about his backing for staunton and what he needs to do and the players that are out there that he should call up etc. It was more setting the record straight in what was reported during last week.
"No" to most of those questions.
I take a "glass half full" approach to this rather than lashing out with the whatever negative thoughts come to one's mind!
Certainly not a students esp not a sociology one (no offence if anybody is one!) but base that on a before and after observation and explanation is either understood or beyond the scope of this thread/discussion.
No matter whether you agree or not there's damn all you can do about it - and as much as I disagree with Delaney, non-football people making football decisions - we are not in an altogether bad place. i for one will continue to watch Ireland play at home and when i can't get to away games and will SUPPORT the team of my nation, as is my right to do!
No doubt we'll hear more of your contributions when the team starts both performing well and getting results (remember I'm an optimist!)
The "English"!!.....Sorry I didn't recognise the word "reagring" and it threw the whole sentence for me.Quote:

For Croker imagine Stade De France X 2, 60-70k Irish fans who know going into the game that we're underdogs and not expected to win. Being 4th seeds means we could have 2-3 of those games in Croker in the next campaign.Quote:
