Irish clubs records in Europe over the years has been pretty abysmal. However, much of that was due to the chicken and egg syndrome that Ireland suffered from in the 70s and 80s - you don't get favourable ties, because you aren't seeded and you aren't seeded because you don't win games.
With summer football, this might change. Hopefully last year wasn't a once-off.
Hopefully not ... and this year there is even more pressure on them to be honest, ...... might not be good but it is the way it is panning out. It is vital that Irish clubs do well this year, more so than last year .... the profile of the league is at stake here and what is worrying me is that there is little or no attention to it this year from fans and media ..... hopefully that is not he same in the clubs and they are getting prepared.Quote:

Okay Republic lol, thanks for clearing that up. I would love to see all teams North and south doing well in europe, except glentoran lol. As long as it helped improve our local leagues, I wouldnt care which Irish team got the furthest (would like it to be Linfield). I just want to see better football, better players and for the grounds to be full again. I remember watching Linfield play Glentoran at windsor, with more than 24000 at the match. Unfortunately it only lasted 50 mins due to fog. Would just love to see big crowds again. My dad used to attend matches in the 40's 50's 60's when 50000 would watch Linfield and Belfast Celtic. Tired of people staying in watching premireship football when theyre so called local team plays that same night. Anyway all the best to the teams in the republic, go for it in europe.
