Everybody who supports any team has the right to call them "we" whether it's a Wexford man who supports Port Vale or a Cork man who supports Liverpool. They are his/hers respective team. Supporting a team is like being part of a family.

I love this attitude of " I'm sooo much better than you because I support my local team" Say's who???? Anybody can support whoever they like :rolleyes:

At the end of the day it's a bug, you caught the bug supporting City, someone else caught the bug supporting i.e. Man Utd....no difference whatsoever my man.

I beg to differ on that front, I think its a different type of bug.

While I totally agree that every single person has the right to support who they wish and call them what they wish (i.e. Manure), in my opinion there is no substitute for the pride one feels in supporting your home town team.

But how would you know Razor? I feel immense pride when my team does well as you do. How do you know what I feel is any different to what you feel just because your team is on your doorstep?

I understand the point people try to make when they come out with this stuff but at the end of the day "your" team is your team whether it's on your doorstep or not.

I also support a Premiership team and of course rejoice when they do well (not much lately though) but not with the fervency that I support City. Nowhere near.

Agree, I just think that because the team is local and that as EL fans we realise that a lot more support for our local teams is required to make our league successful.

That's because, as I've said many times, Cork to Corkonian's is like Ireland to the Irish. The majority of Dubs don't care that Damien Duff or Andy Reid are from Dublin, once they're Irish. If Duffer was from Cork it would be completely different. I don't feel any huge affections with Dublin but the vast majority of people from outside Dublin feel very strongly for their hometown.

That's a fair point but to me it is the same as me supporting Liverpool AS WELL as Celtic. Celtic are my first love, Liverpool are my second but when it comes to the 2 of them meeting as they have done in recent years then I support Celtic and that's the way it's always been.

I played for the Ramblers but don't support them even though I am a Cobh man. I still want them to do well though and normally take in a game when I am home. I don't support City either but I want them to do well too because they are a Cork team. I've been to a few City games too and while I cheered them on, I didn't catch the "bug".

To me that doesn't make me a better or worse fan than anyone else. I just support "my" team which happens to be across the water.

not necessarily, people that move from their home town often tend to be more fervent in their support, there are a lot of City exiles in Dublin as there are Irish in England. Thankfully there is a forum like this to keep everyone active and informed. ;)

Im a bit worried about the 'headcase' element, I'd imagine there will be serious money going on him to be sent off in the Rangers game in Feb!!

As for Hartson, I think you do him a dis-service, I'd say he's more of a gentle giant type myself (apart from the training ground incident with Berkovic obv!) he rarely gets involved in any handbags stuff, just gets on with his game really.
