it would be really nice just not really necessary. Derry earned it but dont deserve it (not saying we necessarily do either).

If it was us this year, then we'd be eligible normally, as our parent company was trading a year before we took over the club, so we have the 3 years accounts. Not all that relevant though!
But yeah, as much as I'd take it happily as a fan, as an organisation I don't think the FAI should be going out of their way to do this.
Maybe I'm wrong here, but is there not a little bit of anger thrown our way because we bounced back straight away? People seemed to expect we'd be in the 1st Div for a few years like Shels before we'd return, but as we got back on the first go our "punishment" wasn't severe enough for some?
They did well in last year's league when many, myself included, thought they would've struggled and done well to avoid relegation. They finished a comfortable nine points ahead of the team next below them.
It's better for the league if Derry do get the nod to partake in Europe. The league in terms of the coefficient needs it's best clubs in Europe.
have you heard the saying "respect is not deserved, it is earned"? It is a moral distinction in the case of my post. They earned the points to be in Europe but their breach of the rules could lead some to believe that they dont deserve it. Pretty straightforward i would have thought.
I don't think that phrase means what you're saying it does. It means something is only deserved when it has been earned. If they got an unfair advantage from breaking the rules then they haven't earned their spot.
no i didnt use the phrase to back up my point of view, just to point out that there is a conceptual difference between earning and deserving which is what you asked. That's all. No big deal. Not interested in getting into an in-depth argument about my use of english on this thread. If you would like to carry it on lets take it to PM or the off topic forum.
No Horton its more than that when you were found to have broken the rules the fai made every effort to ensure you returned to the premier as soon as possible , and that was there only priority .
Had that been most other clubs there feet would not have touched , they would have been out on the street bag and baggage.
but its almost entirely out of our hands. I think we're all saying we'd like to take part in the Europa League but let the chips fall where they may, i dont think its worth fighting or campaigning particularly strongly for and potentially running foul of Derry and the FAI's wishes over 60k when we owe ZB and others a number of millions. And i think if we were kicking and screaming about it we'd be criticised by all and sundry for that too so meh. Its UEFAs decision at the end of the day.
Why not?
As a memeber of any organistation, I Would expect that orgainsation to represent me to the best of their ability.
Anyway, this to me looks like the FAI getting someone else to do the dirty work. I can't see UEFA going aginst their own rules and FAI can come away and say they did their best.
They have job to represent the League of Ireland clubs at UEFA, eheather we think what they are doing is right or wrong.
