I think it was only for three or four games rather than a whole season.
Steve williams played a couple of games for Derry City and I think he had a few caps for England. He was best known for his time at Southampton.
Trying to remember from BK's book but it was certainly not much more than that bluesfan.
Bobby Tambling was with us too for a season in answer to Osarusan, also Cork Celtic as said, and Rovers and Cork Alberts (with due props to bluemovie's investigative acumen! :D)
Peter Reid saw out the end of his career at Derry City, IIRC around 1994. He came for about a half a season and was said to be the best paid player in the league at about £1000 a week, so the rumour of the time had it. I know Reid was an England International as I recall him being easily beaten by Maradona as he went on to score his second best goal of that game...
Big Sam and Ray Hankin did not get full caps afaik.
I can think of only one player missed now and he played with Cobh Ramblers.
We had John Beresford play for us back in the eighties but he may only have got B Caps.
Ian Callaghan- Cork Utd.
Dennis Tueart played for Derry City too and six times for England.
Super sub David Fairclough, played half a game for Harps!
Ian Callaghan's a good one, David Fairclough never played for England.
Frank Worthington - Galway United

Peter Reid only played in one freindly game for Derry City.
As mentioned above, Denis tuite and the superb Neil Mc Nabb played for Derry and did the buisness while with us.Two outstanding players.
While I can neither confirm or deny I would like to add to the speculation.
I think Peter Reid did play at least one friendly game for Derry City - have a vague recollection of him putting in a good show but running out of steam after about an hour - he may even have been in charge of the team (however briefly) at this stage. This would have been about the same time as McNabb, so after Roy Coyle left Derry, and Reid left Man City.
Thanks - I was wondering if I had simply dreamed it, but I couldn't face the thought that Peter Reid could enter my dreams....
