Can anyone confirm if Jamil Adam is going to play for Ireland or Nigeria? He was called into a training camp for the U-19's in May, but his wikpedia page - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamil_Adam - says he's also been involved with the Nigeria U-20's
Put quite simply, they didn't exist, or if they did they were plying their trade at Croke Park, Semple Stadium and Parc Ui Chaiomh.
Although our international first 11 at the time was picked almost entirely from the top 1st Division clubs and Celtic, few of them were Irish born. It was only as a result of the Charlton era that more people in Ireland took up the sport and as a result our team now contains far more first generation Irish players than it did back then.
Unfortunately thanks to the continental based signing policies of Wenger, Benitez, Mourinho etc. our best players no longer play for the top clubs.
