Colour clashing (again)

In 2007, when we switched to Umbro, but we have had a number of black away jerseys, one in the late 90s, the other in 2001/2002. I was sure there was a rule like the one Dodge describes vaguely above, but common sense should always prevail, or at the very least the referees should be consistent. For example, when we played Sligo in the Showgrounds, we wore our away kit, yet when they came up to Oriel (I assume they had their away kit packed) they wore their home kit and we changed to all white. That's fine, but why the inconsistency? Surely we could have worn all white over in Sligo. We're getting better results when we wear the black shirt, though, so maybe I shouldn't let it bother me that much.

The same happened with our game against Sligo. I can't see the big deal. The rules state that if both home and away kits clash then the home team must change. I happens all over the world. Just get on with it

To be honest, All white and red and white stripes doesn't really clash. I can remember going to see Sunderland play Leeds in Elland Rd and both teams were able to wear there 1st kit. Come to think of it we always wore are home kit away to Leeds, Derby, Spurs, Fulham and other clubs with the same strip.

Besides, as far back as I can remember Derry always had a light Blue and white kit so it wasn't like they sprung it out of nowhere. Anyway, all clubs should have a back up option.

If only this was the only major problem with the LOI:o

Umbro haven't produced an away strip for us this season. They done a white one for Shels, looks the business.

Was wondering then why derry wore their away shirt then.
Still I think we look sh1t cool in all black though the white shorts didn't go with the shirt.

Have you seen the mock-up of the 'new' away in Friday night's program? Looks excellent, but it's obviously way too late in the season to introduce it. I'd expect us to keep this season's home shirt and release a new away jersey in 2010 (a take on the old Great Northern Railway shirt would be awesome).

Wasn't able to get my hands on a prog on Friday. I don't think it would be too late. Rovers are launching theirs soon and so are Bohs.

Agree about the GNR shirt, would love one. It'd be a big seller aswell.

The FAI required all clubs to submit high resolution kit images before the season and reviewed them for any possible clashes and either approved each kit or made the club change the design or colour.

So either the refs are making a powerplay and giving the fingers to the FAI or Abbottstown screwed up.

What is clear is that unless the FAI gave specific instructions that were ignored, it wasn't the clubs' fault.

If the ref's being pedantic then our home shirt would clash with both your home and away shirts. Whereas the away would only clash with your home.

I'm only going by the picture and description in Jim Murphy's book (and the same felt-tip markered touch-up in the Lilywhite), but I think the greenish-yellow should be more amber-yellow in colour and the vertical stripes a little thicker (like the Hull jersey). Nice shirt all the same.

Ah yeah its not mine, they guy who designs the program works with the guy who runs that site and he must of thought our away jersey was the same design as our home home.

The colour is wrong because I did it on my laptop and it was meant to be the same colour as the Hull jersey but it turned out to be a Green-ish Yellow when I looked at it on another monitor.
