Ah but did you ever see the match between Jannetty and Michaels when Michaels was just starting to get big in his solo career and Jannetty came out of the crowd to shock Michaels. I think (not certain) Michaels was the Intercontintal Champ at the time. Were they not called the Rockets?

Didnt both the Rockets/Rockers and High Energy both hold the tag team titles for some time?

I'd have to have the 1-2-3 Kid on the bench, cant believe I forgot about him earlier! What ever happened to him?

I didn't see that match you mentioned, my favourite Jannetty match was against Michaels at the Survivor Series shortly after Jannetty returned from the injury Michaels inflicted upon him to terminate their friendship.

The Rockers (not The Rockets definately) were never tag-team champions, I'm 100% sure of that. I never remember High Energy having the gold either but I'll concede that they made have had a short reign in the mid 90's when the tag division was at its weakest. Now, as for the others you mentioned...

1-2-3 Kid became X-Pac and I presume you know the rest? D-Generation X, Cruiserweight titles et al. He got fired some time last year though for a liack of discipline and focus.

Rick Martel was a fine technical wrestler and as one half of Strike Force a tag-team champion with Tito Santana (later El Matador) in the 80's. Not the greatest of mic workers though and held back by his innane character.

The Repo Man was another whose gimmic stopped him from ever making a real splash. He was actually originally in Demolition, one of the best tag-teams ever to grace the WWF but never got above the bottom end of the card in The Repo Man Guise. nice catch phrase though - "What's mine is mine and what's your is mine too!" :)

Virgil actually fueded with The Repo Man. Initially he was Ted Dibiase's Bodyguard but turned face when he tired of The Million Dollar Man treating him like a slave (notice how the black guy was a virtual slave? The WWF in the 1980's didn't do subtlety) He had a brief reign as Million Dollar Champion (not much of a career highlight really) before sliding back down the card and into oblivion.

Finally Jake 'the Snake' Roberts. Initially an adored face, he spent years around the upper-mid card without ever really winning much (if anything) in the way of titles. Turned heel in what was his best story by far, when he sabotaged the wedding of 'Macho Man' Randy Savage and Ms.Elizabeth (who later died of a suspected overdose while living with Lex Luger). Also fueded with the Undertaker and Andre The Giant at vaious stages in his career, had a 'blindfold' mask with Rick Martel years ago and turned face again as his career wound down. Outside the ring he hit drugs in a big way and was arrested several over non-payment of child support running to hundreds of thousands of dollars.

You're right, The Rockers were never tag champions. Well they did win them once but the WWF decided to forget that the match ever took place (the ropes broke early on and the match ended up being really embarrassing).

1-2-3 Kid was initially fired from the WWF because of drug problems, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall managed to get him a job in WCW where (under the name "Syxx") after a decent early run his career tailed off and he was eventually sacked as a punishment to Hall and Nash (who basically did whatever they pleased). He asked for his release from WWE but he could easily get his job back when you consider that he's best friends with Triple H.

I loved "The Model" Rick Martel gimmick!

Virgil was later in WCW as the nWo's lackey "Vincent".

What ruined Jake Roberts as much as anything was a botched guitar spot with the Honky Tonk Man in the late eighties. Whereas in modern times they use shoddy balsa wood that'll break really easily (and actually look good) back then they used real guitars. Jake took a real guitar over the head from the utterly clueless Honky (who hit him full whack) and suffered serious neck injuries, eventually becoming addicted to painkillers. It didn't help that you worked like three hundred dates a year with the WWF back then, either. Since then Roberts has become a complete and utter bum (child support, crack etc.).

He's basically the Paul McGrath of the wrestling world. An absolute genius who let his demons get the better of him.

Each to their own I'm sure but I think la Resistance is just pathetic anti-French post-War on terror crap that the WWE haven't been dumb enough to churn out since the Bolsheviks. (Wasn't it Wrestlemania V where the Bolsheviks 'sang' their national anthem to a chorus of boos, Gorrilla Monsoon spouting petty bile and a sneal attack from the always impressive Hart Foundation?) That's true yeah. Sgt.Slaughter teamed up with General Adnan and Colonel Mustafa (one of which was previously the Iron Sheik) and it all came crashing down when they lost a handicap match aginst Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior (a true legend of the Charlie Nicholas school)

Not to mention that Slaughter and the WWF got death threats not long after the angle started!

Underrated folk:

1. Ted DiBiase - The best wrestler who never won a World Title in my view.

2. Val Venis/Sean Morley - Can do it all, if only they'd drop the awful gimmick (which hasn't been over in five years).

3. Goldust - Again, he can pretty much do it all and was one of the best workers in WWE this year. Shame that he's being released in January.

4. Scott Hall/Razor Ramon - Could've been a World Champion several times over if he hadn't let the drink get the better of him.

5. Eddy Guerrero - Great wrestler, very popular...should be involved with the likes of Lesnar and Angle at the top of the card.

Honourable mention: Chris Benoit, TAKA, Funaki, Marty Janetty, Jake Roberts, Spanky...

In fact that gimmick "worked" so well was that they (WWF) had to move a wrestlemania (9 i think) from an open air arena to a (70k capacity Vs 6.5k i believe)smaller indoor one for fear of a sniper or some loon carrying in a gun would try and shoot slaughter.


Underused talent:
Benoit : please give the man the belt for a few months, he can make anyone look talented in the ring. What he lacks on the mic is more than made up for in in-ring ability. His matches with Jericho and Kurt are just breathtaking.

Jericho : Ok, he held the belt for a bit and was first ever undisputed champ, but he never had a clean win as champ, even resorting to using a chair to beat recent TE1 winner Maven. Needs a proper run as champ as he CAN carry the company out of its curret slump.

Scott Hall : Hey yo, alone that is genius. Pity he is a p**s head. Should have had a better career than he did.

Rick Rude : Never given the title even though he was the undispurted top heel for yrs. (rip)

Owen : What a performer Owen Hart was. Certainly the greatest wrestler never to be champ. He had it all, mic skills, technical skills, versatility between face and heel. Wrestling truly lost out the day he died (which brings me to the IGNORANT post made by some moron earlier. OWENS death was not actually captured on camera, even though it happened on Live PPV television. he died instantly from the fall, not in fact as how described earlier. I know becoz i saw said PPV live).

Eddie Guerrero : The man is a genius. Greattechnique, great mioc skills, high flyer. A main event between himself and benoit/Jericho/ Angle would be the perfect end to WM XX.

Up and coming:
Cena : Future top heel and face written all over him, just needs to brush up on his actual in ring technique.

Orton: The new Ric Flair. Will go on to be the greatest heel of them all. His arrogance, his look makes him hateable enough as it is. Again, just needs to harness his in ring skills, and we havbe a top performer for many many yrs to come.

Over rated:
Hogan. Always found him BOOOORING
Goldberg. I hate power wrestlers
Brock Lsnar: Too big, pity because he is a great WRESTLER
Austin. Carried the company for yrs, but his gimmick is just over played lowest common denominator rubbish.


True Legends

Angle : The man doesnt know how to have a bad match. Needs to be a heel to realise his full potential.

Rock: While his moveset is kinda bad, his mic skills and comedy are outstanding.

Taker : please bring back the deadman (Rumble?!?). The fact that this guy has been top of the company for yrs and yrs and has only held the title 4 times (5?) is testament to this guys work ethic. Will always put ove r new talent.

Bret : Simply put, the greatest ever

HBK : Simply put, the greatest showman of them all.
