Yeah, I'm probably being over sensitive - it gets to me sometimes how under the radar we are, in a supposedly sports mad country is all. I'll stop now.

so what????
he was asked HIS OPINION ...
The achievements he mentioned by harrington , kilkenny etc were great achievements and thats taking nothing away from bohs fantastic season.
As far as i know he is a more GAA than soccer.
If Bohs season didnt make it into nicky brennans year highlight list ..would u get annoyed by that too?
And he is a professional sports journalist. But, as I think we all agree, it's only Marti M., he's GAA to the bone, so on an individual level it's not really significant/whatever yer havin' yerself etc.
Just more of what we're used to. We really should know our place.
sweet jesus, winning the league by like a gallazion points is not exactly a great sporting moment for a random sports journalist.
harrington won on the world stage, katy taylor won on the world stage, we got medals in boxing, all bigger than bohs achievment.
winning the all ireland is also much bigger than bohs achievment in this country.
from your opening post in this thread: "he was asked what HIS sporting highlights of the year were: "
how can that be different to personal highlights!!!
id take that as personal highlights.
as bohdiddley said he is a sports journalist - marty just viewed harringtons achievements and that of kilkenny as bigger highlights in his sporting view(aka personal view)...it was nothing to do with irish football being ignored
now that **** dunphy had a thing up last week about footballing highlights of the year, and I doubt he mentioned anything to do with the league, now that is bull****.
i think some people are missing the mark slightly on this one - in a proper soccer nation the performance of Bohs would be at the top of every journalists/commentators list of highlights (irrespective of their "area of interest"), as would the euro performances etc etc.
Its not really a "Bohs" issue that sonofstan is talking about (those with the anti-Bohs goggles can now safely remove them) - its the bigger picture we should be looking at, in that domestic soccer doesnt even get a mention. Thats pretty atrocious, regardless of whether its Marty Morrissey or Tracey bleedin Piggott.
Its not unusual for this sort of ignorance to shine through in the domestic media but it should still remain a matter of discussion on this forum.
australia?
usa?
who said ireland was a 'proper nation' and why is the terminology for a sport a determining factor in getting the title of a 'proper nation'
BTW bohs lifting the league title or cup is one of the first images when they advertise the rte sports awards.
Who's Marty Morrissey? Never heard of him.
You're welcome.:D
...know nothing about football.
One plays "football" in an outfit that was surely designed to be worn by a 21 year old lap dancer and bounces a ball that isn't round (not the brightest bunch) and the other they wear helmets and carry measuring tape and flags around.
We're not far behind but you can blame the boggers for that.*
*please don't take my post too seriously. There's no football on so we have to keep our minds occupied in some way or other.
I haven't paid any attention to Marty Morrissey since he left The Smiths
And who is Nicky Brennan?
He also owns a bread company?
no anti bohs goggles ere skstu - fair play to bohs and well done to them.
all i am saying is that certain sports correspondents are going to obviously favour certain sports. Morrissey being one of them - and to him the e.l's achievements was not favoured more than golf /gaa this season hence why it didnt make his list.
i dont think it is down to morrisseys ignorance that he didnt mention the e.l on his list, its just a matter of preferred choice
