I'm actually wrong. FIFA's rules require an association to submit details of its disciplinary actions to the player's new FA and they must in turn enforce the ban.

"Article 12: Any disciplinary suspension imposed on a player prior to a transfer
must be enforced or applied by the new association at which the
player is registered. The former association is obliged to notify the new
association of any sanction in writing and upon issuing the ITC."

The most surprising thing in that article for me is the fact that McGeady is 27. He should be at his peak right now, but it really feels like he never quite delivered as a top player despite the obvious technical ability that he possesses.

He's still a good winger for Ireland, although he's in danger of losing his place completely at a time when he should be stepping up his game. I wouldn't be surprised to see Coleman as first choice on the right after his performances in the past few games and Brady on the left, considering he's naturally left-footed, has a top quality set-piece delivery and will be playing in the Premier League next season.

As for the transfer, not sure if a move to Everton is much of a difference to Spartak. Spartak aren't in the Champions League this season, so any top 10 Premier League team would probably be a decent move for him.

I don't know why Coleman would be switched to the wing when he's just established himself in a long-term problem position for us. McGeady should always be playing on the right for Ireland, I don't know why Trap plays him on the left.

Or Aidan could interchange with Robbie Brady, who might even be a better player?

Mail now claims he is going to Everton for 6 million. Hopefully he is moving there.

Except, it's that rag the Daily Fail...

Fine player and would like to see him back in the Premiership. He has the skill to be a top player but frankly he doesn't have the pace. Not much you can do about that. Everton wouldn't be a bad spot for him. Always happier to see him on the team sheet as he's got that something special which can make a difference and his commitment to Ireland is refreshing.

Not in the slightest, no. For a winger he's not actually that fast which tends to negate some of his skill.

I think you are literally the only person in the world who doesn't think McGeady is fast. And not only is he quick, but he can run quickly with the ball in tow, which is something most wingers can't do. It's a bizarre and objectively wrong opinion. If McGeady is slow, then I'd really like to hear your assessment of Andy Keogh.

Doesn't really matter how fast he is or isn't with his end product dirt!

I actually don't think we ever really get to see whether he's quick with the ball in tow. For years my biggest criticism of him - worse than his final ball - is that he prefers always to take the ball from a standing start. He rarely ever runs onto a ball. Too often he takes too much out of it and makes things harder for himself as a consequence.
