Looks like a real modern defender ... tall, strong, athletic. Then he starts playing football and you realise he cant pass, cant head the ball, can't mark up and just plays long balls into the corners all the time.

A million percent this!!
Exactly how I would have described him.
But I'd add zero concentration, almost completely one legged and a coward (in a footballing sense don't want to knock the guy personally I don't know him.)
"Go on Stevo hit the diag" was the sarcastic shout from the terrace any time he got the ball during the dark last 40 or so games of Stuart Taylor's 50 or so game reign.
In other news what's the story down in cork?
I get that they're terrible and have no money.
But the last few days have seen a few newspaper articles where the manager and what I assume is the chairman are basically reduced to hiding behind the young squad. (That the manager signed with a budget the board signed off on)
"Hit me now with the child in my arms" isn't a good look when you're trying to get people to support you.
Neither is replying to fans questions with various answers along the theme of "Nah nah nah nah nah you're not in foras."
Chairmen of the league, stay off social media. Please, I can't stress that enough!
We've signed Adam Foley a striker last with Newry City
What ever happened with Daryl Murphy to Waterford? Is he signing still or does he not want to get his round in anymore?
He was injured when he signed
Aye, and he's had all the shots but the legs just keep going on him - he's an awful whiner too especially when he hits the Crossbar and fails to score. Maybe time to move on and try other clubs.........
Yup Im bored!
if Doherty goes to Spurs for GBP 15m, would Bohs' 10 per cent cut be (in a sense) the biggest ever transfer fee received by an LOI club?
Probably. It's rare that such clauses pay off so handsomely. Most of them are bought out at some point when clubs are stuck for money I'd say.
After looking at Dundalk trying to burn through 7m as quick as possible, can Bohs use this money on infrastructure as opposed to players? Dalymount future kind of a mess so maybe reluctant to spend to much money there
There's zero possibility Bohs will use any significant portion of that money for the playing budget
European money feels like they can increase their playing budget & keep improving but this is bonus money that can do something more lasting for the club
Bohs will be clever not to repeat past mistakes. They'll naturally set aside some money to push the first team on a bit, but they'd be crazy not to invest in a proper training facility or academy structure somewhere. Half a million would go a long way towards a greenfield training site.
I would also wager they'll not receive anything near €1.5m, probably something closer to 600k or 700k and promise of loan players or some nonsense.
They don't have to accept that. Without knowing the ins and outs of how the clause was written, you would think that they are entitled to 10% of the guaranteed fee which should be fairly easily ascertainable from the transfer documents.
For a player that never made a 1st team appearance for Bohs its some deal if MD goes to Spurs. But MD was only a year with Bohs U19s think the club he was originally at St Kevins(I think!) should be getting the majority of the money as he was with them a long time. Think his first club must feel hard done by!
Says here he was a month away from playing when he signed https://www.extratime.com/articles/2...15-years-away/
You should be awarding that prize to yourself. Bohs have learned their lessons. They are not following the Rovers/Dundalk approach of big budget squads and the board have no intention of changing that approach now either. The days of running the club on unsustainable large losses on annual basis are over.
Bohs are looking to get their own training facilities as part of their long term plans so expect the majority of the transfer money to be spent there.
You've done a bit of a "twardek" there neddy- i.e miles away from the target.
😅😅😅
Doherty to Spurs confirmed, nice windfall for Bohs.
Its a bit like selling Doherty twice!
Lots of speculation of Danny mandroiu to rovers. Might explain why long isn't playing him.
Hopefully neither.
Would look like that though.
He's lucky the bohs match are behind closed doors :)
Yeah surely must be foreshadowing one of the others leaving, otherwise it make no sense apart from it being a bit gas.
Is Danny a bit p*ssed off with Bohs after their "gargled" team news press release?
Looks like he couldn't care less now about Bohs after that, which was disgraceful towards a player to be honest.
The conspiracy theorists at boez(is there any other kind?) seem to think that Rovers have planted a non story to rock the boat at dalymount, conviently avoiding the fact that the player was openly accused of being a drunk by his club..
If he did end up going to Rovers he'd have to up his game significantly. playing amongst journeymen players like ward and buckley means he stands out, but a better class of player awaits at Rovers. He's certainly a prospect anyway.
You'd have to assume at least one of Burke or Byrne won't be playing for Rovers next season so there could be an opportunity for him.
The mouth foaming by boez fans would also only add to the occasion.
Burkes loan was extended untuil next july which will bring him to the end of his contract at preston so he will still be around for next season.
Yeah good point. Think Byrne might tho.
As for Mandriou, don't think boez have suffered with him out of the team so they may see it as no loss.
Given the choice I would have said take Corcoran instead but he now seem injury prone, which is a shame as he's a proper striker.
I thought the joke came from his missus being in Ibiza and posting silly stuff on social media.
The club put it in an official press release (yeah, I read their nonsense excuse afterwards), it's no wonder people laugh at the league if people in it think that's acceptable!
Reckon it has to be Jack Byrne getting his move to across the water that is the reason why the Mandriou move is gathering fire.Thats what Sun said today btw.
Fair enough. He tweeted at the time that it was damaging to his reputation, and he's right, as I now assume he is a drunk. Someone else posted on here the other day asking if he didn't start against Rovers because he's been on the drink. That kind of stuff sticks.
It's bad when it's come directly from your own club in an official communication. Wouldn't blame him for jumping to Rovers.
According to todays Indo 300k of the 1.5M doherty transfer fee is going to Belvadere as they had a sell on plus under FIFA rules both themselves and Home Farm (who he also played for) get money as well bringing Belvos take up to 500k
Still a massive windfall for bohs but game changing money for Belvo.
Belvo deserve a break as they have gone backwards with no access for their school boys to League of Ireland underage.
A lot of their best players now going to St Kevins who get to play in the League of Ireland underage leagues and are the other local club.
True but the fact the Kevins players get to continue on playing in their own club grounds with their existing coaches including their own gear when they play away from home (bizarrely) means they dont have to leave the club for them it is seamless and gives them a huge advantage over Belvo.
For the Belvo kids they have to leave the club if they want to play LOI, in that scenerio over time the better players locally at 8,9, 10 etc are going to Kevins to start with.
