Doubt anyone outside of avenue , Newmarket , ennis town or bridge will win the cup , turnpike might go a long way if they avoid the the big guns.
I fancy ennistymon or even tage A they are a good cup team
Tage A are not a good cup team. Beaten by B teams last three years running at first hurdle.
It was casey

Just an observation from the cup games last weekend. I spent my Sunday in Lees Road watching the 3 cup games. With the exception of the Turnpike v Rhine game, the games were non events. Both Sporting Ennistymon B and Kiladysert Celtic were beat once the first goal went in (the sporting game was called with 20mins left). Is there anything to be said to let the lower league teams play a round or 2 of the cup before the premier or even first division teams come into it? They seem to be well ahead on total games than premier sides so it would free up an extra weekend or 2 for the premier division to catch up on games.
Great idea.
Not a bad idea but "B" teams have had great runs in the past few years and reached cup finals. Inch who are in bottom half of second division beat bridge celtic who are near top of first division so I think it should stay as it is. Its the whole history of the cup, some of the lower teams love to get a crack at "better opposition" to see if they can cause an upset.
I understand that mastermind but a round amongst themselves would filter out the complete no hopers. No disrespect to Sporting or Kildysert but looking at their body language and squad sizes before kick off one would not imagine an upset from either of them was on the cards.
If either side had a notion of trying to pull off an upset then they would have refused to play on the astro turf and looked for a postponement. Both teams were the home side as far as I remember so it seemed like a sense of just wanting to get the game out of the way. A first round amongst themselves would filter out alot of teams with this attitude.
They can still have a crack at A teams, just seed the draw so premier teams come in after prelim and 1st rounds
Was it not like this about 7 or 8 years ago
I agree teams like a crack at the premier teams but it would be no harm weeding out a few teams that are not too bothered about causing an upset. No disrespect to Sporting B or Kildysert but even before the kick offs I felt neither team was going to win.
Neither team came with a big squad and body language and pre match warm up before the game was poor compared to their opponents. If either wanted to win they would never have fulfilled the fixture on the astroturf (both were home team) so it just seemed like a case of playing the game to get it out of the way.
Leave the premier teams out for a round or 2 and this will be eliminated.
Apologies for my double post. Seems like all my posts have to get approved by moderator before they are published.
Could someone tell me for how long this will be the case?
After about 10 post it will stop
Tage were unlucky against avenue this morning thought a draw would have been a fair result
Tage were unlucky alright but Avenue could have had one or 2 more themselves only for some last ditch tackling and abit of over doing it in attack. Subs injected a bit of pace upfront for Tage and Richie Fitz got a bit more joy in down the left in the second half but I feel the Avenue win would have been more comprehensive but for having to play the last 20/25mins with a make shift defence (O Malley, Phillips, Russell all went off).
Avenue squad looks depleted if injuries pile up. They will be happy to have gotten the win this morning considering the circumstances.
Shannon Olympic A 6-1 Kildysart Celtic Ryan Kelly (2), Cheeky(2), Brian Mc Gorrian and Ray Quigley with the goals for Olympic
I agree with ya fatronaldo, i felt tage were the better team and very unlucky not to get a result from it. 3-2 to Avenue. Tage much improved from last time we played them. Will be a tough league this year, alot of teams have upped their game
Killarney 0-1 Newmarket in Munster junior quarter final. Great result down there, i wish newmarket all the best in the competition. I hope they go on and win it
Great win for Newmarket and Clare football in general, they were 20/1 before this match to win it, well able to beat the dines and go on to win it!
Bit of a scare for Bridge A in the cup. Kilkishen pitch not suited to nice football but there into the next round anyway
Darragh Fitz Darren Murphy and Mikey Mc with bridge goals
Tage are must improved alright Mastermind. Only caught the end of the game so hard to judge. Avenue squad is relatively small and have had to go signing new players I believe. Well done to Newmarket. I'm sure every team in the County will be shouting for them...except maybe Rineanna ;)
Injuries and suspensions will do that to a team alright. Stephen mcgann has signed and will be a great addition for us. Agreed about newmarkwt, everyone will want to see them do well. Alot of good results/performances from Clare teams in national and regional competitions in last year or 2 shows that their is good quality in our league
After last weeks performance it was good to get a win on the board, still need to lift it though some sloppy play in the second half that maybe the better teams would capitalise on, and stupid out of Damian for that red card, we have signed Cha Argue as a keeper recently so hopefully another good addition!
Can anyone put up the draw for the 3rd round of the cup please
Good man cheers
