Finnan : "I was astonished when I heard of the accusations and I categorically deny them.
"It was disappointing to read the stories in the press. To suggest I would use racist language is very hurtful.
"I don't really feel I should have to come out and say I didn't say this or I didn't say that, but because of what has been said and written I think it's important I do respond and set the record straight. I didn't say what has been alleged. It's all lies
I don't think many people have that opinion. You might as well turn it around and say "A couple of deaf Manchester fans accused him so he must be guilty - Case Closed!":confused:Quote:

for the record, the story sounds highely unlikely. but christ lads, grow a brain.
It's nothing to do with him being Irish. Actually, maybe being Irish does play a part as we know Finnan better. He is not the type that would say was he was accused of. Stephen Carr is Irish but I can guarantee you he wouldn't be getting the 'nice man' comments just because he's one of us.Quote:

Just look at some of Kerrs high fiving acolytes.
Hit & Run what are you talking about Steve Finnan was never involved in a hit & run. He stopped at the time i think if you followed the case he was cleared of any wrong doing.Quote:

I see you've already editedour post RTID, might not be a bad idea to delete altogether considering its a post full of sh!t.Quote:

some of the arselicking on this site is cringeworthy
As I've already said, it has absolutely nothing to do with his nationality. Steve Finnan does not seem the type of person to racially abuse someone. I've read over the thread and all people are saying is Finnan seems like a gentleman who would not resort to this stuff. This is an Ireland forum so most people would know Finnan a little bit more than your average premiership player.

Shock ... Gasp ... Horror ... the story turns out to be a crock of ****e. Which is what most people on here said along. Still, it is very sad that rubbish like this is even being brought up (either because he's Irish or he plays for Liverpool or both).
Roverstilidie ... what did Finnan being involved in a 'hit and run' (which he wasn't!) have to do with the allegation of him being racist ... I don't see how the two are even remotely connected. I have been fortunate enough to meet Finnan a couple of times and he does do quite a bit for charity as well. He is a genuinely top guy.
What the f**k has his nationality got to do with it???? - anyway he was raised in England so being Irish would have nothing to do with it anyway
I said i think these accusations are probobly a load of bull - and i still stand by that - not because hes irish but because of his personality
