Does that suggest that Mick wants the Job ? I wonder who Mick would bring in as his assistants . I think he has a regular back up team .

I’d take Killers comment with huge dose of salt, just didn’t sound covincing and even if some half arsed players never heard of Kenny then so what, it’s not a valid reason to relegate Kenny down the pecking order. Managerial nous will always trump an initial impression or prejudice.
Possibly but Wenger at least managed Monaco for 8 years prior to coming to Arsenal, got to the Champions League semi final and European Cup Winners Cup final & managed top players like Weah, Klinsmann, Hoddle etc during his spell there.
Keith Andrews just said there now (which I would agree with) that there is a risk if you are going to appoint Kenny whereas Mick will likely qualify us for Euro 2020.
Maybe Killer is auditioning for an assistant job with Mick ?
I wonder had Mick being sounded out un-officially recently ?
Stephen Kenny is a very good manager. Unfortunately, i do think that premier league and championship would look down their noses at him. Killer is right in that regard. Maybe i'm wrong but that's my gut feeling. The north had poorer players and were at a very low ebb when they appointed michael o'neill, who has shown what a good manager he is.
I personally like mick. He had an awfully tough job replacing Jack and he made us a very competitive team. I got enjoyment out of watching us home and away, unlike the last few years.we played good football under him as well. I know a few lads that came across him and he's very good with young players. Given, we have potentially a golden age bubbling under, i would trust him with them. He did good stuff with our last golden generation imo.
Were chris hughton or michael o'neill available, i would be interested. Carlos Queroz could be interesting too.
My dream team,
Mick and lee carsley as national team manager/assistant and stephen kenny as u21 manager.
If Stephen does well with the u21s as i think he will, then promote him to replace mick. He will have worked with the players that will be in the team then.
Why do we think Mick will qualify us? He couldn't qualify us for the Euros when he had Duff, Given, Roy and Robbie Keane, and Denis Irwin. Why would he do any better with a bunch of Championship players?
If it is about getting Championship players to play above themselves, remember that this man set an all time record for the lowest points return in the Premier League.
If Robbie Keane develops coaching skills at a club first and then wants to be a coach with Ireland in a few years, then he's welcome.
Our international team is not a proving ground for the old boys club.
They sure do go hand-in-hand.
I cannot understand, and maybe I'm just out of the loop when it comes to discussing football, but I cannot understand how we have posters discount Stephen Kenny and then at the same time say they'd take Michael O'neill if he was available. For me that just does not compute.
And when he took over the North, he certainly had a couple of well-established PL players: off the top of my head, Aaron , Steven Davis, Jonny Evans. Even Kyle Lafferty you'd have in the big-time Charlie category.
Maybe the difference is that the English born players the North had in the squad were of a lower calibre, and the stars were 6 county boys, and more likely to support one of their own? But we don't really have that excuse. We have a good majority of LOI lads in the squad.
Poll added using the current top 20 candidates in the betting
multiple options allowed, please limit yourself to three choices
There's a two week limit, if there are three, or so, clear leaders in a week, I'll close the poll then create a new one with just those three.
Ugh..
When is the Draw for the Euro’s ? I heard Brian Kerr make the good point that the FAI would like to have a Name / Face for the Draw . It may seem like a small thing but its a little embarrassing not to have a manager to do the necessary ; Media stuff ; after the Draw . Kerr had a point on this .
God I really hope Mick leaves his *****ly superior attitude behind him if he takes the job. This we don't have the players line will be on the tip of his tongue. This can't be some Sean Gallagher vanity project for Mick cause he deserves it cause Roy ****ed him the last time. No high profile assistant please
Decades of rushed decisions, no strategy and repeating the same mistakes.
I couldn't be arsed with this anymore.
