I don't think he's ever played full back at Sunderland.

Wilson and Stoke keep a clean sheet for the third successive game. Hopefully Delaney and Wilson can both continue their obstinacy well into the Autumn.

Wilson will miss the Italy game due to brother's wedding but makes himself available for other three; speaks on GAA roots.

Wilson linked with Palace.
'Arry thinks Wilson is the man to replace Dunne. He scares me when he mentions O'Neill might play hoof ball. Please God, no!

You don't want to be behind Harry in the car park do you!!
Great to see Marc Wilson is being rewarded for his showing at centre-half last season; he starts there today beside Shawcross with Robert Huth back from injury and on the bench.
Stephen Ireland and Glenn Whelan also starting.
Supposedly at fault for Sunderland's second; lost his man in the box and left him completely unmarked.
Sent off for the second time this season.
Zero has suddenly jinxed everyone
Mark Hughes wants Marc Wilson & Jon Walters signed up to long-term contracts at Stoke.

Amazing that he was starting ahead of Shane Long when he wasn't near fully match fit. Imagine that. A 32 year old in his first competitive start and a crocked 31 year old start up front against Scotland in Dublin. How could it have went wrong?Quote:
Walters also revealed he is feeling fit and free of injury after a summer break which helped him recover from a niggling knee injury.
"It was probably a difficult season last year with my knee which has been a bit sore throughout the whole time," said Walters.
"If I had taken a break it would have gone but I didn't, I left it until the summer.
"It was a bit of a tendon thing so it was a case of loading it up every week to play games - and sometimes two games every week with training, so having that four-week break after the internationals has settled it right down.
Hopefully that is one thing that won't happen again. Starting players (McGeady, Walters) when they clearly aren't fully fit.
Amazing how you went from 'sore' to 'wasn't near fully match fit' to 'crocked' in the space of a couple of sentences.
Most players will admit to rarely starting a game completely free of all injuries.
I don't blame Walters. I think it's up to the manager at the end of the day. I'm particularly annoyed because when the season started he was playing with niggling injuries and at season's end he was still playing with niggling injuries. I think it was noticeable that when he played for Ireland he was not fully fit, and to make matters worse he was left on for 90 minutes at the end of every game.
Misses out against Liverpool with an ankle problem
Walters and Whelan start for Stoke, Given and Ireland on the bench - Whelan captains the side
Would have been a good result apart form the Coutinho goal, he had a shot earlier and it was so far off target it was unbelievable.
Didn't seem to knock his confidence though, the next shot was as good as the previous one was bad.

Great to see Wilson get a decent amount of game time on Saturday, and again last night. He came on after nine minutes against Watford after Cameron got injured, just a pity his return coincided with such a poor result for them. He tucked away his penalty well last night too.
Whelan (assist), Walters (goal) and Wilson (penalty)! Productive night for the three W's. Probably just as well for Stoke that they stuck with Butland for the League Cup also seeing as saving penalties isn't Given's forté!
A rare start these times for Wilson against Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup q/final. Walters also starts with Whelan on the bench. No Westwood in the Wednesday squad.
Westwood doesn't play League Cup and certainly won't for the rest of the season.
Idle speculation on tinternet of a possible switch to Aston Villa (no official sources, just speculation). Similiarly linked with Sunderland and Bournemouth earlier in the window but again, no concrete sources, just speculation.
Does he need a move to cement his place in France or does his versatility guarantee him a spot?
He's guaranteed a squad place I reckon.
I didn't realise Shawcross got injured on Saturday before Leicester ran riot. Wilson came on after a half hour to replace him. Shawcross is out for up to a month so hopefully Wilson gets a bit more game time.
Gutted for Willo, here's to a full recovery.
May open the door for someone else?
What happened?
medial ligament injury, possibly out for three months - http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/35457807
That's a big blow for him, he's unlikely to see much or any game time when he returns unless there's a few injuries at Stoke. Not ideal at all. Hopefully he'll recover well enough to make the squad though, his versatility could still be important.
Wilson is on track to return to training next month: http://www.donegalnow.com/sport/irel...or-euros/80934

It closes on Thursday. Outside of that I think only goalkeepers can move in an emergency.

I see Hogan has played down talk of representing Ireland.
I just saw on Twitter that Hughes says Wilson will be fit for euros.
